KVCD has Video Jerkiness?
 

Hey Kwag (and gang)

First of all, let me join in and say that you've put together a great template. I've had a lot of success with it over the last couple of weeks.

However, I'm running into a problem. It's happened a few times.

Most recently, I was in the process of making a backup of my Hunchback of Notre Dame DVD. I ripped everything, ran it through DVD2AVI and then TMPEG with your template. I did cut it down to 352X240 and upped the CQ number by four (to 78). When I run the file, I play in on my computer just fine. If I burn a CD and take it to my standalone Panasonic player, I get a strange effect where every 4/5ths of a second or so, there's a wierd lag in the video (making it kindof jerky). The audio is fine except for the fact that it's playing slowly...the singer's pitch is much lower than it is on the DVD. Framerates of the original files are 29.97, as is the framerate of the MPEG1 file.

This same problem has happened with some DivX files that I've been encoding as well. (One with a 23 framerate and another with a 29.97 rate) Those are only two out of maybe six or seven I've done so far.

I've also played around with the minimum BR setting it at 300, 0, and 600. It doesn't make a difference. The weird thing is that my player supports much higher maximum rates and much lower minimum rates than those in the template. I've used up to 4000 max and 0 min without any difficulty at all.

Any suggestions?

It's an RV-31

Having the same problem with a Pioneer 343, on the 352x240 setting. Does not always happen, just wiht some movies, and it does not appear to be a problem with Fast or Slow sceens, just overall "Jerky" affects.

Hi Dr !
Try to encode small part of movie with CBR 1150 or 2520 see if jerkiness disappears!
If so maybe I could suggest you solution

I can't at the moment remember exactly what the correct setting is but look in advanced (tmpeg) and select first(A) versus second(b). This is the only way I've managed to stop the jerking motion. I also have a panasonic dvd player.

Well, being my usual, idiotic self, I figured out why I was having the problem with some files and not with others on my RV-31. Apparently, I was forgetting to change the audio back to 44.1K/128 instead of 48K/128 after I would load the file. For some reason, my player can play 352x240 with 48K audio, but it can't play 352x480 w/ 48 K audio. So, it's working like a charm again...
