KVCD: Basic deinterlacing question...

Okay, I've got some basic questions about deinterlacing. I'm trying to encode some SVCD sources, and I use DVD2AVI to make a d2v project file first. When I preview the source, I see that it is 100% film so I chose Force Film. However I notice that the frame type keeps flipping back and forth between Progressive and Interlaced multiple times per second. Does this mean I need to deinterlace? And if so, which one of the (many) filters should I use? Without deinterlacing I see hardly any noticeable combing, except when the screen flashes white and then back very quickly. I have heard to use Decomb, but was confused why I don't see that option in the latest version of Moviestacker.

Hope you guys can give me a hand! Thanks.

This is what I use to convert hybrid material that contains NTSC and progressive to 23.976 fps.

Telecide(guide=1,gthresh=30)
Decimate(mode=3,threshold=1.0)

This has given me great results on material that has severe combing and tons of video mixed in. Sounds like your material is pretty clean so maybe you don't need this setup, but works great for me on stuff that is about 70-80% film and 20-30% NTSC video
