KVCD methods: Which one is better?
Hello,
I have ab avi file captured from VHS source using a DV Cam passthrough through firewire technique. The resolution size is 720x480. Now here's my question, which of the following encoded resolution will give a better quality: 1. 352x480 @ CQ 70 2. 528x480 @ CQ 63 or 3. 704x480 @ CQ 55 Anyone? Dredj |
2. 528x480 @ CQ 63, because it's the closest resolution to your CCD ;)

As always thanks Kwag...I knew you will say that....
I am currently encoding at that resolution now so will see the result...I also lowered the Audio bit rate from 128 to 112, maybe I can achieve a little increase in the CQ. One last question, in your optimal script, right after the avisource (my source is avi obviously  ), I have to do ConvertToYV12 because the DV capture is RGB24, so without this the script will fail. Then at the very last part of the optimal script which is after the functions...I converted it back to RGB ConvertToRGB(). So my question is, is this okay? Adding this makes the final output very nice as oppose to without it(the final output without this looks very smokey...not sure about the right word). So do you thing this is okay? By the way, I was able to remove the combing effect that I mentioned on my very first post by using a new deinterlace filter called DGBob(), it's basically similar to TMPGenc Deinterlace(double adaptive) internal filter. Thanks again. Dredj |
