KVCD: audio lags behind the video by about 2 seconds?

Hi Kwag and crew,

It's been a long time since I've posted a question here, but I've been tuning in now and then to see what's new and interesting. I've been using Kwag's templates (and bountiful advice) since before the creation of this site, and they have all without exception worked great on my Sony dvp nc600. Except for one. I ripped and converted Equilibrium and the sound is in sync when I play it using zoomplayer, windvd, and burned and played on a Cyberhome 500. But when I play this same disc on my sony nc600, the audio lags behind the video by about 2 seconds. The template is the kvcdx2 1 disc. I've never encountered this problem before, after over a hundred conversions of both DVD rips and video captures. (Thank you Kwag!!!) I've tried de-muxing and re-muxing (with tmpeg) to no avail. Do any of you kind folks have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Scav

Hi Scav,

For this specific case, open your VOBs with MPEG Mediator and extract the audio to WAV. Now encode the WAV with HeadAC3he. We've had a couple of movies that behaved just like that ( Kate & Leopold was one :!: ) and extracting the audio with DVD2AVI just didn't work. But MPEG Mediator was the correct medicine :D

Hi Kwag,
I have the same situation here, I used Mediator to extract the audio to WAV, I have double checked that it is 5.1 AC3, I have selected the correct channel, but the WAV output is only 2 channels, I loaded it up in headAC3He, it also showed 2 channels only. Shouldn't we have a AC3-WAV (5.1 channels) by using Mediator, or it is a trade-off to use Mediator to extract audio instead of using DVD2AVI?

Just want to let you know that the movie "Basic" is out of sync started at the last 1/3 of the movie, so I have to use the way as suggested by Kwag, Mediator did cure the problem but I can't keep 5.1 channels. I use AC3 Machine to handle audio for me (reducing the bitrate from 448 to 320 or 256 to save space, it still sounds very good) and I mux the 5.1 AC3 audio with video by using BBmpeg, I import the mpeg file into DVD Workshop, it burned all my KDVD with 5.1 AC3, and they all played well in standalone DVD players like charm.

Kwag,

I tried the method using MPEG Mediator, and I still get an audio delay. I'll double check the steps I took tonight.
Is BBmpeg supposed to produce 3 separate muxed mpg files? I get a filename.mpeg, filename00.mpg, and filename01.mpg.

Found the problem. My Sony player doesn't like temporalsmoother. I take that out and everything is in sync.
Thanks for the feedback guys.

@ Scav
I'm having some trouble encoding Equilibrium to KVCD. Did you use Force FILM in DVD2AVI? What lines did you use for deinterlacing in your script, and what framerate did you use for your encode?
I have to ask 'cos no matter what I do I get combed frames in my encode.
