KVCD: B-Spoilage and P-Spoilage
Hi Kwag!
I noticed that your KDVD Half 1 Template uses B-Spoilage 20. What actually IS B-Spoilage and P-Spoilage, and will higher numbers increase file-size and quality? |
well, it is tmpenc default setting, so I would just leave it 8)

I just did some test encodes of frame 800 to 2300(1 minute) of my DVD Starship Troopers and the KVCD 352x576 PAL template with different B and P Spoilage settings. Encoding was directly from the .d2v
Kbytes P B 11408 0 0 (default) 10632 0 40 10568 40 0 9888 40 40 12432 -40 0 11572 0 -40 12756 -40 -40 10624 40 -40 11732 -40 40 Apart from the obvious conclusion that positive values reduces the filesize Im not quite sure what to make out of this. I dont have time right now to measure the visual quality of the clips. It might be an method to alternate the allocation of bitrate between B and P frames. Rookie |
Thanks Rookie...
I'll run some test with B and P Spoilage 40 / 40 ... I don't think it influences the quality that much, compared to the decrease in filesize... Thanks Rookie !! |
