Hi, I've just converted my Xvid avi file to Mpeg using the TmpgENC svcd templates that come with it and when it done, i try to play the mpeg file and it does play but the whole screen seems to be on the left side. the picture isn't in the middle or in the postion where it should be like in the original avi file of it. and the image seems to be taller. the width shink in and the height expand up. The picture doesn't cover up the whole screen.

why does this happen? did i do something wrong?

Where do you read your mpeg ? Which soft ?

The SVCD reso is'nt a true 4:3 picture (480*480 is a true square, that means it's a "4:4" acpect ratio). You have to _force_ the aspect ration to 4:3 into your player to have a correct picture size.

i test it on both of my computer and dvd player. I guess it must be that the resolution of the avi is different with the svcd resolution setting. shall i use file information from Vdub in set my resolution exactly like the one in my original avi file?

I suggest you to use Moviestacket or FitCd that"ll give you the correct crop/resize parameters to have a correct picture in your video.

Hi lanvo,

Is your standalone player a Pioneer
Encode as MPEG-2, and you should see the correct aspect on the screen.

thx for all the help so far... anyways, my dvd player is an Apex AD-1110W

How do i use MovieStacker to find out what's the best resolution? well, i have downloaded the program and run it, also have load the Source avi file to it. So, what do i suppose to do now? On the drop down box for Source and Destination, do i choose VCD. and what's up with the scripting code on the bottom?

HI lanvo,if you are using the kvcd tempaltes then the 352x240 ,lbr, ulbr and the 704x480 only work with the apex 1100w and the framerate should be 29.97,if you are using the regular templates that come with Tmpge then everything should be fine with this player.

To use moviestacker and other great programs you should read a couple of guides on the homepage.]
