Hello, this is my first post (please be kind). I am fairly new to making KVCD's, but I have successfully managed to create a number of discs.

I have an opportunity to set-up a new PC for this type of work and was wondering what would be the best OS to install for creating KVCD's using AVS scripts and TOK etc? Would it be XP, Win2K, 98SE???

Also, make sure to get WindowsXP Professional. From everything i've heard it's supposed to me more stable, i guess.

my scanner doesn't work with winxp so i am using win2k but i'll give winxp a go i haven't tried it yet on my pc.

Windows XP pro is good that's what I am running, but I barley notice a difference with XP and 2000. The main difference between XP is the GUI (graphical user interface), also if you look at what there kernel are call XP is 5.1 NT and 2000 is 5.0, that’s not much difference since NT 4.0. The only reason why I upgraded to XP is because my hardware had better drives on that, which would be the only reason I would upgrade. Also I heard from a lot of people 2000 boots faster and is more stabile (newer versions are not always better (98 3rd edition aka ME!!!, which stands for multiple error).

Thanks for your advice. I am running XP Pro at the moment, but I have a copy of Win2K that I was toying with installing. 98SE was never really in the running, but I have heard from some people that 98SE is very good with capture cards, mine in particular, an early 'Broadway' card.

I found this site a couple of weeks ago. Up until then I was copying my DVD's onto two VCD's. You caught me just in time.
