It was a coincidence
I just did another movie and it took 8 cycles.
So CQ in TMPEG remains non-linear.

Small bug fixed. Download at top of this thread, or here: http://up1.fastuploads.info/CalcuMatic-1.1.12.exe.zip

Fix:
When selecting an audio bitratrate on audio streams #2, #3 or #4, the audio stream would jump from 0 to 1, and when you moved the mouse, it would fall back to zero.
This was really a cosmetic fix, as the three extra channels always stay at "0" number of streams, so the user is forced to select how many streams he/she wants.
Only audio channel #1 has a MIN value of 1.

Thanks again to rds_correia for pointing this out

Hi guys
I have question. Actually, I told someone at vcdhelp that I would ask here, before giving him download links.
So, can I give the download links of cqmatic and calcumatic to someone at vcdhelp.com?
Someone PM'ed me there, and I told him I would ask here before giving out information.
The person is very skeptical about registering here, so I guess if he sees the programs, then he will get a better feeling of what this site is all about.

Thanks,
-Andy

Hi Animatron
Welcome to the forum.
No way
If those guys at vcdhelp, or wherever, want any of the tools that we have developped here inside the forum, let them register here.
Then they'll be able to download these tools and they'll be able to see the quality achieved using our methods.
It's just a question of showing to as many people as possible the quality in a KVCD/KDVD .
You know, there are a "few" that try to stop many from seeing other horizons.
I have seen that happening too many times at vcdhelp .
I say, let them come here and check for themselves
Anyway, that's just my oppinion.
Merry Xmas to us all.
Cheers

I must be doing something wrong. I have tried to use CQMATIC1.4 along with Calumatic1.1.13 and everything seems ok and looks like I think it should, but when i click on execute, I get a invalid stream format error. I am running TMPGENC2.5.21 with 352x240 reolution kvcd template and trying it with a d2v file as a source. please tell me what I am doing wrong. It looks like a wonderful adon for TMPGENC. Actually just what I was looking for so I really want to resolve this issue. TIA

Hi phuquehair,

Make sure you are saving the TMPEG project as "text".
Also, make sure that after you save the project, you can click on TMPEG's "Start" button, and actually see the encoder process.
If you get the same error, it means you have a problem in your source.

Thanx 4 replying so quickly Kwag. Well I can use tmpgenc with my own settings fine. I also have saved the project as text. When I load the project in cdmatic it seems fine all the way till i click on execute. That is when the program flashes on and off the screen and the progress bar for full encode begins to go from left to right. It then gives me the error message for invalid stream format and tmpgenc opens and begins to run with my own personal cq settings that were set previous to using the CQmatic application. Is it that CQMATIC is unfamiliar with d2v files? Are my settings for MUX OVERHEAD in CalcuMAtic incorrect? Should I be running prediction only first? Am I doing something wrong with the way I am saving my TEXT file (like was I supposed to clear all setttings in TMPGENC and only have audio and video streams input into the project and nothing else)?

No, TMPGEnc is perfectly able to read d2v source files.
Try opening TMPGEnc.
Open your *.d2v source on it.
Press the start button.
Does it show the same error message?
If it does, go to the "Option>Environmental setting..." menu and choose the "VFAPI plug-in" option.
A child window should appear.
Check that your "DVD2AVI Project File Reader 1.7x" does not say "The file cannot be loaded.".
If it is, you have a problem with your DVD2AVI instalation.
If you're loading a file that is not a *.d2v source, say a *.avs source, then it's up to Readavs to deal with it.
Then check that on the same TMPGEnc child window, the entry for ReadAVS.dll does not say "The file cannot be loaded.".
If it does, then you have a Readavs.dll instalation problem.
Be so kind to check these first, and tell us your results.
We'll keep on helping further on .
Cheers

TMPGENC reads the d2v fine. As I said, I can run TMPGENC perfectly with my own settings. What I am having problem with is the CQMATIC application. I am using it to start TMPGENC anf it is not working correctly. The error I am getting is a CQMATIC errot and not a TMPGENC errot I believe.

Karl, please check the comboboxgadget heights in CQmatic of the audio bitrate dropdowns as the drop down lists do not work- selcting bitrates via mousewheel works.

Hi Andrej
I'm on my home PC with Calcumatic 1.1.13 and I gotta tell you: all the Audio X combo-boxes are working fine
Maybe some veeeery outdated graphics card drivers
It's a long shot, but I've seen it happen, long time ago.
That happent on the early Nvidia RIVA128 (pre-TNT/TNT2) drivers some years ago.
Many tool's combo-boxes wouldn't work properly.
Other than that, I gotta say everything looks ok on Calcumatic.
Cheers

I have been encoding kvcd for a little while and have gotten pretty damn good at it with TMPGENC. I had nmo problems with encoding xvid or d2v or any other source for that matter. I tried CQMATIC along with CalcuMatic thinhking it would end the setup for a good cq setting which seems to need changing and a few test runs b4 final encode. I first tried with a d2v file which gave me an errot every time saying INVALID STREAM FORMAT. I have no problem using TMPGENC with d2v files i want to say again. I gave up after many tries. I then tried it with an xvid. It seemed to work perfectly. I set it for a filesize of 800 mb thinking that with even 2% being off it would stilll end up within guidelines to burn with nero. Absolutely not. The filesize looked like it may be fine all the way up till the end when i got a final size of 839 mb. Well if anyone knows why any of this is happening please let me know. i would really like to get to the bottom of it and be able to use these apps.

Hmmm, Calcumatic/CQMatic and TMPGEnc were built with MPEG1- and MPEG-2 in mind.
You're trying XviD which is MPEG-4.
Don't know but Kwag may have more to say about it.
As to the problems you have with MPEG-1/2 using CQMatic and TMPGEnc, I have to say it is very weird.
We've had cases with other users that sisn't save the project file in text mode by using the small combo box that comes up in the "save as" window.
Are you 100% sure you checked that?
Cheers

EDIT: of couse you did. If you're using CQMatic 1.4.00 you have to load a text project or else it shows an error message.

@phuquehair,

Make sure you have cleared "Source Range" in TMPEG.
Go to the settings, click on "Default" on the advanced tab under Source Range, press "OK", and then "uncheck" source range and press "OK", then save your .tpr project as text.

Run TMPEG. Click on "Settings" button. Click on "Advanced tab". Double click on "Source Range". Then you'll see the "Default" button there. Click on it, and click "OK"
Then "Uncheck" source range, and click "Ok". Now save your project as text.

Note: When you are in source range, you should also check that on the "Cut Editing" button, the "Reset Cut Editing" is grayed out. If not, click on it to clear the range.

And you can avoid all that trouble by pressing CTRL+N, that is start a new project .
Of course, you'll have to create all your project again and save it as text project again too
Cheers
