KVCD has Macro Blocks Galore!

I guess I must be a perfectionist cuz when I try the kvcd ntsc template(120 min on 2 cd) I get macro blocks galore it is allmost un-watchable, and I think i know what I"m doing cuz I am in the film industry(sort of)I work for a company that encodes japanese animation films to vcd (for the asian market) and to dvd(for asian european and north american market)so maybe I am asking to much but when I use my own settings and matrixes I seem to get much better quality than kvcd and just as much on a disk, I even experimented at work programing the kvcd gop structure into the $60,000 hardware encoder at work, I had better results than with tmpgenc and the kvcd templates but it still wasnt what I expected ,but I guess if you were new to encodeing and just wanted to get a movie to a disk,it would be acceptable but so would the standard tmpgenc templates, but I guess the biggest problem was trying to edit a kvcd file, seeing as there arent very many I frames it makes acurate editing difficult, but like I said I guess I"m a perfectionist, but I"ll keep playing with it and see if I can tweek it to get a better result ..hope you guys have better luck...see ya

@Da Pro:

As bman said. This forum and techniques is about fitting 120 minutes of video in a single 80 minute CD. Some movies will look good, others won't.
It all depends on the source. I believe the KVCD templates create very descent quality for almost everyone. It may not be DVD quality. In some cases it may be as good as SVCD ( or better ), but if you want DVD quality, then encode with the KDVD templates. You'll fit close to 5 hours of video in a single DVD-R, and you won't be able to tell the difference from the original DVD. ( Except for the file size :wink: )

Da Pro, what method do you use? Can u please share with us your method of encoding to mpeg? It seems interesting, more movie, better quality, on one cd is alwways a good thing!
