hi totonho03,
Sorry, I lost my connect (sys crash)
Quote:
Thanks for your answer. I tried downloading your sampler, but for some reason my computer thinks that this is an mpeg file, and I was not able to downloaded as a RAR file. I will try again later on today.
|
Be sure to Right-Click (not left) ...
and when the SaveAs box comes up, just give it an .rar extention in place
of the .mpeg one. For the life of me, I don't know why it comes up that way
though. But, I speculate, that it as something to do w/ the archieve being
an .m2v file (inside)
Just rename .mpeg to an .rar and you will be fine.

Here are my results w/ CQM v1.1.07 thus far:
I just got finished w/ TWO "predicts" w/ v1.1.07 and I was amazed at how
much faster it was w/ a complete "predict" of:
* Project type: MPEG-2 w/ 16:9 output for true widescreen viewing
* Movie: "Dogma"
* Length: 128 min - - - (used no seconds here)
* bitrate: 741 - - - - - - (based off, Form: Bearson calc mode, in vcalc)
* MIN: 423
* Last CQ: 49.152
* FileSize: 11.122mb
And, remember, "predict" was run TWICE, cause I coudln't believe it, and
thought that either my system would crash on the 2nd test, or give me a
complete set of different numbers. But, it game me the SAME
Deffinate improvements !! !!
see both LOG's 1 and 2 results below.

That's great , but use 1.1.08a, because I've seen file size differences from x.15 to x.20 CQ values
So it's better to play it safer on precision

Ok, results are in:
No change. All is a-ok STILL !!
Mind you, these are results based off a "prediction" not a full encode.
I'm not yet ready for that. That will prove for sure, weather CQM STANDS
up, or sits down hehe to my expectatioins. I'm thinking of setting it up on
my 2nd pc and let it necode "Dogma" complete, for this test, but I fear that
my 2nd pc will not perform the same or give poor results based off of some
strangeness of my 2nd pc. But, that's me going
I'll think about it. Anyways, here are my "prediction" for same material:
Everything stays the same here, as before, again.
* Project type: MPEG-2 w/ 16:9 output for true widescreen viewing
* Movie: "Dogma"
* Length: 128 min - - - (used no seconds here)
* bitrate: 741 - - - - - - (based off, Form: Bearson calc mode, in vcalc)
* MIN: 423
* Last CQ: 49.15 - - - - - (from prev. CQ 49.2, and 49.152)
* FileSize: 11.122 - - - - -(prev. 11.123mb and 11.122mb)
Note, I used vcalc for all my calcs above, w/ their respective settings.

Just a thought for your next version Kwag.. when you run the program and just click cancel straight out it asks you if you want to abort the process when no process is running.. Perhaps this cancel button could be disabled for when no process is running. Just a thought.
Thanks.

Well, I just finished doing Full 107min prediction for "Red Planet" ...
* 800 MB CDR
* Project type: MPEG-2 w/ 16:9 output for true widescreen viewing
* Movie: "Red Planet"
* Audio: 112 kbits
* Length: 107 min - - - -- (used no seconds here)
* bitrate: 909 - - - - - - (based off, Form: Bearson calc mode, in vcalc)
* MIN: 518 - - - - - - - - (0.57 * aveBitrate)
* Last CQ: 51.26
* Process time: 39.52 minutes
* FileSize: 13.604mb @ 2min sample
Note, imo, anytime CQ is 50 or greater, expect decent quality or better.
2 minute sample looked good in my opinion for a 1 CDR project !!
Now, on to the "Matrix" ...

Well, not so good this time around.
Well, I'm still "predicting" the Full 136min for "Matrix" ... and it's sucking
bigtime (the movie, that is) It's on it's 10th pass, wow. And, CQ seems to be decrementing by sigle digits like a count down timer . That just suck for me ("matrix" that is) cause I'm waiting and waiting ta go ta bed, and it's STILL going at it.. now down to CQ 23.21. But, I don't get it this time.
"Dogma" is a 128min and it only took 2 passes and CQ'ed at 51 !!
Must be something to do w/ the source
* 800 MB CDR
* Project type: MPEG-2 w/ 16:9 output for true widescreen viewing
* Movie: "Matrix"
* Audio: 112 kbits
* Length: 136 min - - - -- (used no seconds here)
* bitrate: 691 - - - - - - (based off, Form: Bearson calc mode, in vcalc)
* MIN: 394 - - - - - - - - (0.57 * aveBitrate)
* Last CQ:
* Process time:
* FileSize: @ 2min sample
And it's STILL going at it..

@vhelp,
Don't try to put a movie like "The Matrix" at 704x480 on one CD.
I did mention earlier that the CQ curve below ~50 will take a long time to predict, because of TMPEG. Not because of CQMatic
Either lower your resolution to 528x480 ( Will look way better than 704x480 anyway ) or put it on 2 CDs, if you insist on that resolution

Hay Kwag,
sorry, I was just trying to see if it would prove just as well, as "Dogma"
did, but it didn't.
It finally stopped at 173.95minutes after 26 passes. pfew!!
I was hopping "Matrix" would work, but I was dissapointed at "Matrix" for
now - (not at CQM)
Anyways, there are other movies to test (later on) getting ready for work
Have a great day all,

Gentlemen:
A FIRST ONE FOR ME!!!!! I finally completed my first kvcd!!!!!!!!!! :yippie:
I know, I know, most of you are way ahead of me but watch out, The Peruvian is running faster than un burro veloz, ja. Burros are notorious for being slow, a few will gallop, but most all of them just walk, they can carry a heavy load, but........
Anyway, the kvcd was not perfect. (Operator error) The size of the file was 799.692 MB, the audio is out of sync, but the video is great!!!!!!, and I was not using any filters at all!!!!!!!!!!!. And of course the only machine that played it was the Cyberhome 60 dollars player.
Now I have to do a lot of reading in order for me to be able to have synchronized audio, subtittles and a second languaje. Oh well, this is certainly not a boring hobbie.
Well, what can I say but to thank kwag, jorel, vhelp, black prince, red-m, vmesquita, new_bee, dialhot and many others that posted questions similar to the ones I had, as well as the folks who out of the goodness of their hearts took the time to write their guides, vmesquita, black prince, red m, Avalon, and the Spanish guides. To all of you: in your name with a big THANK YOU, ans a special to EL MAESTRO KWAG!!!!!!!
Totonho03
P.S.- Please do not get mad at you if I keep on posting what may seem silly questions to you......

Hay toots..
FWIW..
one word, color-space. eliminate the steps in between, that causes the
issues with, and you have as good as quality you'll get. Course, theres a
few tip'n techneque one keeps to him/her self
Listen, I'm glad you made it, pal
I've ben working w/ the "Matrix" predition, and have had nothing but poor
results, which I believe to be the source itself. I have a few hunches, but
I need the time to debug them ( which I'm doing now, sort of )
Keep up the good work.

Sorry mi amigo, I did not understand your meaning of the quote.
I was going to buy the Matrix and The Red Planet today, but run into virus issues in my computer and expended most of the day correcting it. I ewill more than likely do that tomorrow.
Best regards
Totonho or Toots, as my friends now call me

hi toots,
Sorry for the confusion
I was on a role. Anyways, fwiw, there are many factors that taint the color
space to a degree. In my experience, and imo, I feel that the more one
uses filters (filter items) the more of a chance you ARE tainting your sources
color space. But, depends on a number of factors. ie, how many filter
items you have in your script, ie, ConvertToYUV and ConvertToYV12 etc
as examples. Just using them once (IMO) is enough to make me wonder. But, as long as you don't notice anything, then it's safe to not worry about it

yeah, get the Matrix and Red Planet I can watch the Matrix many times,
and still enjoy it. IMO, it's an original piece. I just hope that the Sequal hasn't
spoiled it.
The Red Planet is another great movie.. worthy of a Sequal too.
