Bitrates: Illegal Stream message?

Kwag

Trying out the latest version of CQMatic. I open TMPGEnc, adjust the minimum as suggested, save the project (text). Open CQMatic, adjust the settings, open the project file, pu the movie length/bit rate in, set for full encode. One of two thing happens. It will open TMPGEnc and start to do the prediction then just hang up, nothing more will happen. If I close TMPGEnc and start over, CQMatic will go through two or three screen blinks and I get the Illegal Stream Format error and TMPGEnc will start processing the complete film at a CQ of 90. What am I doing wrong. thanks for your assistance. looking forward to using this.

Hi Bud,

Make sure that before you save your project, you clear the source range (set start frame to 0 and end frame to -1), and "Uncheck" source range.
Save your project as text, and it should work fine.

Thank You...I got it to work. I am also useing the KVCD3 template. One more question. Some time ago you had recommended that we down size the auido with HEADAC3 to about 112 or 96 Bitrate (mp2). Would this still apply when using CQMatic? Or will it make any difference. If I understand the process, by lowering the Audio we leave more room for Video, which in trun should allow for a slightly higher CQ (More room for video) Thanks again....

Hi Bud,

I always use 112Kbps for all my encodes, and I always use HeadAC3he.
That way, you'll leave more space for video, than if you use a higher audio bitrate. But make sure you don't encode the audio with TMPEG. Use HeadAC3he, and you'll have excelent quality at 112Kbps.
