Audio editing for KVCD?

I posted about having distortion on audio of recorded video captures and as a result my kvcd, I have narrowed down what the cause is - it seems high frequencies are being distorted, can anyone recommend a wav editor that has some form of equaliser in it I could use to adjust the audio with as thanks to the guides and help from posters here I have managed to get very nice quality and would like to achieve the same with the audio :)

Thanks

hi there, Cool Edit Pro is the best sound editor I've seen yet..

You're not using TMPGenc to encode audio by any chance are you?

Thanks for that, and yes I have tried using TMPGenc for the audio then switched to de-muxing the audio to a wav using VirtualDub and re-muxing it later using the mpeg tools section of TMPGenc but it didn`t make a difference what program I used.

The higher sounds are just slightly off now, distorted more the higher the volume is when watching the vcd, and I shall endeavour to find the right equaliser settings to adjust the audio a wav editor as I just want to adjust the very high ffrequencies to be less noticeable.

I have checked the DivX avi source file before encoding the audio and video to mpeg and it did have the same problem so seems to be in the capture process although I`ve used a different sound carrd and different capture card so unsure whether it is a Windows Millenium problem.

I have tried saving audio as highest bit rate PCM and that made some slight difference to overall quality but not the higher frequencies. Do you use something like headac3he or besweet?

I have toolame to encode the wav to mp2.

Thanks :)
