kvcd: good way to convert from PAL 25 fps to NTSCFilm 29 fps ?
Anyone know a good way to convert from PAL 25 fps to NTSCFilm 29 fps ???
|
I asked the same question here:
http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5454 And still haven't found the solution! This guide: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/166237.php worked well for me to go from PAL 25 to NTSC 23.976, but when I tried to convert the sound to NTSC 29.97 it soundeed like Alvin and the Chipmunks! Anyone know of a guide out there for this, or have any recommendations? Thanks, Icarus |
No, I'm sorry.
But you don't need to do this. Just encode with 23.976 fps (takes less space anyway) and set a 29 fps flag with Pulldown (get it here: http://www.doom9.org/software2.htm). Your standalone thinks it's 29 fps and does the pulldown itself. |
Why don't you let your KVCD in 23.976 with "3:2 pulldown during play" activated ?
That make your 23.976 video seen as 29.97 by the player and everything should be okay. |
Well, I just found out, my DVD player can play the PAL format,so it don't really matter, except for the fact that I can't use the higher KVCD resolution templates especially when converting from the DIVX avi formats. I think they're like something 400x200.

Dialhot:
When you say to encode with "3:2 pulldown during play", is this a setting in TMPGenc, or do I need to add something to my Avisynth script? Also, when TMPGenc asks for the framerate, should I set it to 23.97 or 29.97? (I assume that with the "3:2 pulldonw during play" setting I should still set the framerate to 23.97, but would like to confirm). Thanks, Icarus |

Why ? I'm in a PAL region (France) and I can use whatever template I want., both in PAL and NTSC. Do you mean that your player supports only PAL at VCD resolution ? |

I prefer to encode in MPEG-1. Is there a solution that's compatible with MPEG-1? Thanks, Icarus |
Running manualy the program pulldown.exe on the video file should work but I never test this myself.

Icarus3000,
For MPEG1 you can just keep the 23.976 fps since it is a legal VCD framerate. To enable the MPEG2 3:2 "pulldown during play" you have to set the framerate in TMPGENC "29.97 internally 23.976" or the other way around, not sure now. But if you have truly interlaced PAL content (*not* movies and TV Shows, I am talking about musicals, Sports, News, Documentaries), that you want to convert to NTSC interlaced, you can use this script: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=35387 []'s Vmesquita |
