What do most people here feel to be to low of a CQ? I understand that it all depends on my own eyes; but at what point does lowering the CQ begin to degregate the original source? I've found that my player will play 704x480 mpeg-2, but at that resolution CQ hovers around 65. Thanks for all your input guys/gals.

Hi incognito,

Can't give you an exact number (or even an approximate number), because for a reference CQ value, if you make changes to MIN and MAX, your CQ will change completely
Just make a quick test: Find CQ for a particular movie with MIN=300 and MAX=2,500. Now find CQ for the same movie with MIN=500, MAX=2000. Now, what's your new CQ

@jorel: Now You found it Out! Be happy! I use it since month. Take a look at DCD 5.0 Standard or DCD.6.0.0.1. I'm using the resolution 704x576 (480) in MPEG2. So I got more Quality than in 720x480. Try it.

If it helps my player has been able to play all resolutions in mpeg-1 thus far except kvcdx3 528x480. I havent tried kvcdx3 mpeg-2 yet but maybe... I also know I can play 352x240, 480x480 and 704x480 mpeg-2. This also works for 23.976 and 29.97 fps.

hey incognito,
my player can play:
320x240 - mpeg1 as vcd
352x480 - 480x480 - 704x480 - mpeg2 as svcd

but with 544x480 and 528x480 in mpeg2 (cos mpeg1 is impossible)
i got big(yes,BIG) black borders in the left and the right size of the image!

don't know if i can "change" anything to use this resolutions.

any idea?

thanks!
