KVCD: Half my film disappears after I burn it?
 

I am trying to create my first KVCD and everything was going ok by following the guides up the point where after I have burnt it to a CD, only some of the movie is there??

Here are the details:

Movie: Divx, H640 x W272, 1hr and 36 mins long, size 700mb

I used virtualdub to split the video and audio. Im now left with avi file (624mb) and a wav file (85mb)

I then used besweet to create an MP2 file of audio (90mb)

I then used TMPG and the KVCD-CQ-352x288-_PAL_(para 120 min) template and created a *.m1v file (471mb)

I again used TMPG to combine audio and video and Im left with an mpg file of the whole movie in sync.

I then used nero to burn a non compliant pal vcd and the file fills about 70% of the disk

The cd auto runs in my pc dvd software and plays on the my standalone but only 45 mins of the movie is there???

I am very new to this but any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi PhSLICER,

Load the created *.m1v in Virtualdub, and see if the complete movie is there. If it's not, then something went wrong in the encode. If it is complete, then something went wrong when you muxed. If that's the case, mux with BBMpeg, and not with TMPEG.

Edit: Just re-read your post. I see you can play it on your PC, but not on your standalone. Then the problem was apparently the muxing.

OOOOoooops I was being too rash to post my problem. The whole film is there, its that the clock counter is incorrect when playing the film. Also the original movie had already had the credits cut from it so when I scanned it through on the dvd player it appeared as if the movie just stopped prematurely which is why I didnt spot it :oops: .

Wow I did get it right first time...shame I wasted a day and half trying find the rest of film :oops: :oops: :D

On a different note. Can i used my above mentioned method to convert xvid to kvcd? or can it only be done with divx?

Yes, that's because of the variable bitrate. DVD players are not expecting a VCD VBR MPEG file :) Yes you can. It's the same process.
