problems with encoding some xvid to vcd?
 

Hi everybody !

I have problems with encoding some xvid to vcd. It will not play smooth and I found something strange. When I check the preferences of the xvid file it says "videosampling 24 bits". This is ok to encode to vcd but some of my files have "videosampling 12 bits" and this plays like in slow motion after encoding.
So, to all great people here... what am I doing wrong??? :?:

in a word, using Xvid.

I have had nothing but troubles with Xvid, they are like RealMedia files, once you get them into the format, you can't get them out easily.

I ended up putting them into VirtualDub and frameserving them to TMPGEnc.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

To explain my problem more clear, I am using avi2svcd to encode the xvid file. It seems that xvid works propertly and checking the xvid file with gspot it says that several codecs is installed to run the file. AND, as I wrote, it's no problems to encode those xvid files that have "videosampling 24 bits" in the preferences, only the xvid files that have "videosampling 12 bits" makes a "slowmotion copy" out of Tmpgenc. I have checked that the framerate is right when I encode. So, can anyone explain the difference between 12 and 24 bits xvid and why I can't encode 12 bits xvid correct?

Ooohhh... To vmesquita, I checked your guide but I did not find any related to this problem I have :cry: I have also tried to convert to other divx format with vdub and the outcomming copy ends up in slowmotion when try to play on computer.. :cry: :cry:

Don't do format conversions unless it is absolutelly necessary! They cause loss of quality! My guide is also useful for Xvid/DivX 3.11 and other MPEG4 stuff. I actually have no idea for what this videosampling setting is about. Try searching for Videosampling in doom9 forum, they have a very active Xvid forum and might be able to help you.
But your "DivX from Xvid" came out slow-motion too?

Yes, but only the xvid with 12 bit videosampling (I tried with both to see what happened). I will try search the DOOM9 to see if I find something!
