Tried quite a few ways of doing backups of the kids DvD's as they are 6 and 4, they used to destroy dvd's on quite a regular basis. As they are not that fussy of the quality i have tried your template but dropped the size to 352 x 288 as well as the normal 352 x 576 and movies like thomas and shrek after encoding are about 550MB which is perfect and the quality is definately better than a SVCD, parts where there is either fire water or lots of activity there has been not a single block.

You definately have my vote for the work you have put into these m8 30p CD as apposed to a £20.00 DvD every fortnight

Thx and keep up the good work

PS. Do you have any info on how i can capture with an AIW Radeon then use it through tmpg with your templates.

Hi Pnumonic:

Thanks for that vote

I will start to work very soon on a guide specializing on captures via BT-848/878 chipset boards.

This is the top priority in the list, because these boards are so cheap and the quality is so good. Specially with the drivers that have been created at http://btwincap.sourceforge.net

After that, I hope to start with ATI's and other brand name boards.

Right now, I don't have any info on the AIW Radeon, because I don't have one.

But stick around!, it might not be too long before more info is added to this site.

The real goal is to capture to a common format, mostly AVI compressed with the Huffy lossless CODEC.

That way the AVI, no matter how it was captured from any capture card, can be converted with TMPEG and the KVCD template guide, which will follow the BT-848/878 guide.

I Think SVCD looks much better , but you wil need 2 or 3 cd's for one movie .
