audio Choppy when the screen is black in the source!

Hi,
I am doing a series of test encodes of your templates and am in need of some help,When there is a black screen with no typo etc ,
there is choppy audio in daylight scenes as well as high action scenes everything is perfect ,moment there is pure black there goes the audio,
I used your original KVCD 120 minute on two cds 704/480.Then I tried with increasing the vbv upto 350 with no benefit and ,also increasing the
minimum bitrate to 600 doesn't work.My player is a Pioneer dv-733 a.
It plays svcds and x-vcds I have tested quite a few.

Increase the MIN bit rate to 800. See if that does it. If not, lower the MIN back to 300, and increase the audio to 192.

Yippeee ! Success!

:D ,You might be surprised ,I finally got the test to work well in my standalone after I encoded it as Mpeg-1-Video Cd instead of Mpeg-1 video cd(non- standard). It works at 48 vbv and 300 min bitrate. Thanks Kwag, now I can back up all my ld stuff in peace.I will post my player in the successfully playing kvcd 120\2cd.

But there's a problem there! If you encode as Video CD, you're encoding constant bit rate. You won't be able to fit more than 80 minutes in a 80 minute CD-R. It has to be done as Non-standard VCD so that the bit rate is variable.

Hi kwag,
I am encoding at the variable bitrate of 300-2300 only the header under the tmpgenc system tab is set to video cd instead of video cd non standard. It comes to 60 minutes in an 80 min cd its the 2 cd kvcd.

If you set the header to Video CD, you're encoding CBR, no matter if you set 300-2300 CQ, VBR, CQ_VBR, etc.

I will have to disagree because the result looks identical to the kvcd that I made with choppy audio(I did a several action sequences comparison on a cdrw and the result is identical),and i was watching the encode log and it was encoding at 2300 in some places 1800,1200 800 500 :) and lots more definitely not cbr , in other places and the filesize is the same as the kvcd i made.I beleive it works like this like some people take an svcd mpeg and rewrite it to video cd header by muxing it in Tmpgenc ,Does that change the vbr svcd mpeg into a cbr ,I beleive not.
So theoretically what im doing is possible,I am watching on a 30"Hdtv capable 16:9 monitor and a high end pioneer dv-733a player I can tell the diffrence between a 1150 cbr and a 2300 vbr the tv screen will see to it.
thanks Anyway im very happy with ur gop the results are amazing ,thank you once again i got to start on the Mpeg 2 tests now.

8O If it works COOL!. Maybe it's been changed in the latest versions of TMPEG. Last time I tried, it didn't work. Glad to hear it's working ok for you now :D
