KVCD: Video/Audio plays, but image is on left side of screen ?

Well. I followed the conversion guides on this site. Used a 98 minute avi file to convert to a KVCD. Image and audio are great quality, but when I play it on my Pioneer 343 the image is on the left side of the screen.

I used Red M's guide http://www.kvcd.net/guides/kguide/kvcdguide.htm
to get my final mpg file. I used TMPGEnc and chose the KVCDx3-MPEG-1-NTSCFilm.mcf template to convert my avi to an m1v file (and then multiplexed it with the mp2 file).

What have I done wrong? Why is it playing on the left side of the screen?

The source AVI file is as follows:
640x256
23 frames per second
Xvid
98 minutes, 136kbps

Hi corwin1,

The problem is the Pioneer 343. You must encode as MPEG-2. Not as MPEG-1.

Thanks, I tried that using the KVCDx3-MPEG-2-NTSCFilm.mcf template. It encoded fine, plays fine on my PC (no sync problems and views fine), but this time it looks too large when I playback on the pioneer.
Although it is centered, it looks blocky, grainy and like its in PAL format (square all around rather than rectangular or widescreen). I checked to make sure I used the correct template so I am not sure why I'm having this problem.
I had the same problem encoding a PAL AVI where the image was on the upper lefthand side of my TV when I played it on my Pioneer.
I'm using Nero 5.5 Enterprise edition to burn, so I don't think the problem is there.
Any other suggestions? Kwag? Anyone?
