ksvcd does not always fit on one disc?

Hi , I have downloaded the KSVCD template in Pal, and it works really fine. The only problem I have is that the final mpg , sometimes I can convert a 1h30 AVI into one CD, sometimes I cannot, although I always do the same : separate the audio, convert it with AC3 ..; into 44.100 htz.
Then I go throught TMPGE , put the same resolution ( as described in the tutorial ) . The only thing I change is : Aspect Ratio : I put : keep aspect ratio , can my problem come from this ? As I am a foriegner and maybe my english is not good enough, in other words, when I convert a AVI into KSVCD , the final result can be , depending on the films , for 1 hour 30' , 700 Mo or 900 Mo. Can anyone help ? Thanks you all

It's normal. For KVCD we encode in CQ mode and there is no way to know the size of the file, it depends on the compressibility of the material.

You should DL the tool called CQMATIC (see forum of the same name here) : taht's a tool taht calcultate the optimal CQ for obtaining a file of the wanted size.

If you want we can go to french forum, it will be easier for me to explain the subtile principles of file size prediction.
