Bitrates: Calcumatic 1.04 Video Source Time vs TOK and Vdub

How come CalcuMatic and Movie stacker say my .d2v source file is 34 minutes long, but loading my .avs file in Virtual Dub or ToK say the project is 49 minutes long.

I'm using Telecide and Decimate in my avs script to convert hybrid material to 23.9fps.

Any ideas?

You answered it right there
CalcuMatic, MovieStacker, FitCD or any program that reads the .d2v directly, can only read the frame rate, and then "count" the number of frames. When you use Telecide and Decimate, it's a whole different frame count, specially on a hybrid source
That's why you get those results.
Also, when you don't use "Force FILM" in DVD2AVI, the frame rate in the project is 29.97fps, but when you use "Force FILM", it's 23.976. So that affects the calculation ( number_of_frames / frame_rate ).

Probably a dumb question, but need a clear answer. When processing a 29.97 DVD source (DVD2AVI no force film) and using Telecide() and Decimate(), do you use the d2v time from CalcuMatic or the time from another program (Headac3he)?

I'm looking at 179 minute film (from label and Headac3he) that shows 143 minutes in CalcuMatic (from d2v).

Use the one you get from HeadAC3e. You can also use Virtual Dub or ToK to get the project length. Basically any app that will read the .avs file.

The .d2v you are looking at, was created with "Force FILM" set. That's why it shows 143 minutes. (179/143 = ~1.25 ) and then 1.25 * 23.976 = 29.97

Rechecked. DVD2AVI was not set to force film (I use Telecide() and Decimate()). No problem, I use minutes from Headac3he.

Also

When going DVD to DVD, what is best mp2 bps rate to use? I understand that DVD standard is 192. I calculate and process using 128, but have space for 192 or more mp2. CalcuMatic and CQMatic are outstanding for DVD to KDVD to DVD! Still playing about with miniDVD. I assume I should be using custom size of 1400 for 2 cd's.
