KVCD: Multiple Movies into one DVD-R
 

Sometime ago back last spring,I saw a really really good post,for fitting several movies into 1 DVD R. Problem is: I don't know who the author was,where in the forum index it was posted,or even how to begin to search for it. I know KWAG did I reply on it.....and so did I. If I could see all the posts I made on the forum...I'm sure I could find it,but thats probably not possible. Sure would save me alot of headache searching every post on the net, if there was an easier way.

A super excellent tool is dvd-lab, That thing is so easy to use and excelent at making easy to use menus and putting however many film you want on a dvd-r. I tried to use Adobe DVD Encore but couldn't figure it out without a 1 week training session. With dvd-lab, I made my first 2 movie dvd-r in
about 10 minutes with menus and chapters.

..you put 2 movies on a DVD-R ? ...how you do that ???

Take a look at the guide I posted, you can put up to 6 hours in one DVD-R at FullD1 with excellent quality.

it's really easy, in dvdlab, you right click to on the movie branch, click add movie drag your video and audio for the movie then repeat for each
then contruct your menu and link your movie starts/chapters

Yes, by all mean use vmesquita's guide to compile 6 hours of video in one dvd, it is an excellent guide. I was able to back up 7+ hours of video in one dvd, the quality was for the most part good, however, I will probably stay around the 6 hours mentioned by vmesquita on my future kdvds. If after reading the guide you still have questions, then by all means post them here, and I am sure that vmesquita and other experts will answer your questions to your satisfaction.

I have also used dvdshrink, the new version 3.0 beta 5 for my back ups, and the resuts are also good, but will not back up more than say 4 hours of video. I have not compared the quality of signal between kdvd and dvdshrink, but if I were to guess, and if the playing field is equal, I would state that kdvd offers better signal quality than the transcoders. Perhaps someone else may share their opinion and or the results of such comparisons. In my case, and due to my lack of experience on kdvd, I normally use dvdshrink or dvd2one if I want to back up 2 movie in one disc, the main reason for this is that I normally back up with two languajes plus subtittles, and so far I do not really know how to do it with kdvd. I would venture to guess that once I learn how to integrate second audio and subtittles, I will use kdvd for my back ups......

I'm assuming that if you burn multiple movies to a DVD disk...each seperate movie should be in their own folders right ??? Of course the next question is,can a TV dvd player read and open those folders ?

The answer to your question is yes, each movie is encoded separately, with their own specific settings, then they are compilled into one dvd via dvd Lab or Tmpgenc dvd author. (This is if you are following vmesquita's method). In my case, using the remote the player, I can then choose the tittle and the chapter I would like to see.

Don't know if anybody has tried this,but I got a movie to shrink down even further,by replacing the large AC3 audio file...with an MP2 encoded by ACHE, then have DVDlab mux it. I found I can go down as low as level 8 to 40 or 50 percent in DVD Shrink,with hardly any difference in picture quality. But for those 3hr. epic movies,then the full KVCD templates is probably the way to go.

Which version of dvdshrink are you using? You should try version 3.0 beta 5. Are you stating that you are usign DVD lab together w/vdshrink?

I'm using 2.3,but what are the changes as well as advantages in using 3.0??? Anyways,I import the video files from DVD Shrink together with the encoded MP2 audio files from Headache,and then mux them in DVDlab. Works fast and great. I can always fit 2 averaged sized movies that way.Gonna have to look into this 3.0 beta version program and see how that goes.
