No sound, please help!
 

Hi:

I used Smart Ripper - DVD2AVI - TMPGEnc. I got one problem: no sound at all. I did get .AVI & .WAV file. But the MPG file after the TMPGEnc comes out without the sound.
Do you have any idea why this could be?

Are you sure that you loaded the audio file into tmpgenc? If not, when you load the video source into it, go back to the same folder and load the audio source. If that doesnt work then maybe you have a codec problem, or you have messed up settings somewhere. :roll:

Yes, I'm sure I placed the WAV file in the Audio field of the TMPGNec.
I even tryed a few times with only a small portion of the movie.

Which setting I could've messed up? Where should I look?

1) In the options , environmental settings do you have the vfapi reader plugin checked on.

2) have you played the wav prior to encode

3) are you trying to use an external encoder ( see option again) mp2 or mp3??

D2s and tmpgenc to mpg NO Audio....

funny im also getting this error now. Just started happening a bit ago, like maybe two weeks. However, as Q11's problem mine also is happening when i load avi's (divx,dv etc...), D2S's (freshly ripped with dvd2svcd's internal routines, dvddecrypter, dodsrip, smartripper), and other mpg1-vcd (i.e. ts's, cm's) and svcd's mpg2-compliant mpgs.
I see video but no audio on the end product, mpg-kvcd using tmpg 2.53 but when i use i 2.54 (i have version 12 to 2.54 installed, downloaded 2.55 and 2.56 but havent tried nor installed), it converts fine= video & audio.

I deleted my vob's and d2s's so i havent tried just playing the wav file (my rip was a three hour movie, the wav came out to be larger than 3gig, but the drive i rip to is ntfs). But did vfapi is checked and not using an external encoder (beSweet, toolame, etc...)
if anyone figures it out, post your resolutions. thx

This is the method I'm using now, and it hasn't failed once!.
I am using "Demux" in DVD2AVI instead of "Decode". This way I get the AC3 audio instead of a WAV file. Then I encode ONLY the video with TMPEG, and then I note the file size.
Then I use headac3he to encode the audio to .mp2 in surround 2 mode. This mode is available with the headac3he program. Here's the guide for the correct use of headac3he: http://www.doom9.org/mp2-hac3.htm
Depending on the file size of the video, I then encode the audio at the appropiate bit rate to fill the CD-R. If the minimum bit rate of 128Kbps is still too large when muxed with the video to fit in the CD-R, then I just encode at full 224Kbps and mux the video. Then I cut the video for 2 CD's.
The audio results are AMAZING with headac3he in my RCA surround system, and it's way faster than BeSweet.

pretty cool. I've havent really encountered any problems with dvd2avi, so unless i happened to choose or the movie had the english audio file in a different track, i.e. track #3 instead of track #1 0x83 for example, then this rip should've worked. Even if you're method is flawless, which it could be, u r da man, afterall, it still doesnt fix the tmpgenc problem with the avi's and mpg's.

Here's something to try , to get audio, when encoding,,

load the video part into tmpgenc
IF d2s (dvd2avi project file) is your source
either convert the audio using the Kwag HeadAc3he Method, see quote below, or convert using BeSweet, toolame etc...then load the audio into tmpgenc,
or encode the audio to mp2 separately and use tmpgenc for your VideoOnly (in which case you'll have to re-mux, re-multiplex video and audio later), try to encode again. Do a few minutes, test for audio.

IF your source is Avi , divx, etc,,or another mpg1, mpg2 (xvcd, Svcd,XSvcd,MP2-from TV, VHS, Satellite, SVideo,DV,PBA,FBI,CIA, etc..)
load your file into the video,
then you can either copy the file, i.e. copy of yxz.divx.[1of2].avi and rename it copy of yxz.divx.[1of2].WAV, or just load the same file or the copy of the file, into the audio source, try encoding again. or
follow
the guide on using virtual dub to extract the audio to wav, and using the wav as your Audio source.
