KVCD Sample test, what resolution and format my dvd can read?
I've downloaded the sample test to see what resolution and format my dvd can read.
But I want to make MY sample test disk with different background and different sample. I know I need to encode my sample in the 6 format. BUT my question is what format I burn and what format I encode? Does I burn in SVCD format? Header trick? I really don't know. I personnaly think I need to burn in svcd format. But what append with the 352x240 format? Does I encode in VCD ou SVCD format? AND after that, I burn the cd in svcd or vcd format? Thanks to help me! |
All samples in the test image were muxed and burned as VCD.

So, if I understand, even the sample in 704x480 is made from the VCD template?

That's the difference ;) -kwag |
So, to do the same sample disk, I just encode my sample with a GOP of 24, using all the template, in VCD mode, that right?
|
Yes.
But for example my player (Samsung S224) plays only the first 3 of the samples. If I encode the video to mpeg1 but then mux as SVCD my player plays all kinds of resolutions, up to 720x576 |

I've once mistaken PAL and NTSC resolution (I did a 480*576, 23.976 NTSC 3:2 pulldown while playback) and the player read it without any problem :-) |
 maybe too big..but:
all resolutions(pal and ntsc) encoded as vcd(mpeg1 and mpeg2),burned as vcd! all resolutions(pal and ntsc) encoded as vcd(mpeg1 and mpeg2),burned as svcd! all resolutions(pal and ntsc)encoded as svcd(mpeg1 and mpeg2),burned as vcd! all resolutions(pal and ntsc)encoded as svcd(mpeg1 and mpeg2),burned as svcd! ps : and more...ntsc with 23,97 and 29,97 too! <edit> i was forgot: "everything" muxed as vcd and as svcd before burn! the test will be really too big :!: 8O |
great idea
I will try to make 2 of those discs (all 'burned as vcd' can be on 1 cd, and all 'burned as svcd' also on one, right? The way -resolution, bitrate, quality- they are encoded isn't a problem when putting them all to the same image?) |
same image?
your choice!  maybe permanent subs showing the resolutions on the screen...: like: kvcd ntsc 320x240 mpeg1 audio 128 - 44k another: skvcd ntsc 480x480 mpeg1 audio 128 - 44k ...etc! |
