This should be controversial!

 Ok, I dont really know how to say it without ruffling feathers or opening up cans and cans of worms over whos right, whats better etc. 8O
I've read many of the guides painstakingly produced by many of the members and appreciate the efforts but what I want to see, and I guess one or two others might agree, is a guide written by Karl Kwag himself.
I'd like to see a guide from this overworked underpaid master of this format for taking a clean crisp satellite feed (or avi) and putting it on a cd-r. AND (since the are so readily available), a guide by the master himself for converting a divx ( I know you dont like them as a source but its what most of us have) to a single CD-r.
Before you reject me saying that there are many good guides available, like sefy's and black prince's and many others....and that the duplication of their work duplication is pointless. Every one of these masterminds does there own thing in they're own way. As we all do. I have easily 100 programs on my system and having tried everything everyone else has ever said in these forums , I never had as much sucess as I did in the early days before you started this forum/website, with nothing more than one of your templates and tmpgenc.
I'd like to see how the top of the foodchain. (YOU) would do these two format requests in YOUR way. Then I'd like to erase half of my hard drive of proggies I dont need, screwed up conversions I dont want, and myriad guides and how to's from people who all know more than me, but in my estimation, less than you about KVCD.

Let me apologize ahead of time to anyone who takes offence, I mean none. I just prefer to learn how Mr.Kwag would do it, if thats ok.
I appreciate all of the many hours of information the others have given me. I'm simply not happy with my understanding of what to do when I wish to back up one of my Collector DVD's to cd-r.

Sorry if this is taken the wrong way, but I think others would support me in the request, and by the way?.. Xmas is coming. I'd accept the Kguides as a darn nice gift to the group.

No offense at all but some point for your reflexion :

- Kwag do not have the time; His days are like yours made of 24 hours
- Kwag do not have all the knowledge. Like you and me he discovers things every days (At least, I hope for him he does);
- Kwag do not have the unique thought. He's a man, not a guru.

And finally :

- Kwag is preparing official guides for KVCD, but see point #1 :-)

Hi EightBall,

It's all in my wish list. But there are far more important things right now, like the splitting of kvcd.net in two sites: KVCD.Net and KVCD.Org.
Had to do it, because of excessive traffic.
Now, I'm in the middle of re-structuring the forums, web site, helping with posts, and keeping up with my life :!:
So it's still going to be a while before the official KVCD guides and manuals are released ( hint: or published , which would be REALLY cool  )
So there we are, as dialhot said, I'm really short on time.
But franky, I think that all the current guides are very similar, as they all use the same "chain" of programs. The biggest difference is on the AviSynth scripts being used, which have a personal taste from each writer.
I know it's a big pile of programs all together ( DVD2AVI, MovieStacker, CQMatic, CalcuMatic, TMPEG, etc. ), but that's what makes this so much fun, and not boring. And that's the spirit of KVCD ;)

That's the most important part.

More prodding.

Yup, no doubt time is the biggest enemy for all of us. 8O [Except Dialhot who mostly uses his to critique the posts of others it seems. Frankly, I think the forum/site itself has lost some of the fun attitude it used to have because of the uneccessary additional "power commentaries" I see attached to almost every post anyone makes. As an "original" newbie in here I used to ask questions fearlessly because one could always expect a pleasant answer from a knowledgeable soul. Even if the question was idiotic, like most of mine were. In recent months it seems anyone less than an expert gets shot down rather quickly by this (I assume) forum manager.]
Anyway, that having been said,
Karl, I am happy to hear its in the works!! . I repeat, I mean no offence to those who have done the work already available, I know a lot of it is darn good, I know some of it is crap, but undoubtledly, every one of them (the guidesand the authors ) is more than I have contributed or could contribute.
I did state my awareness that you were overworked, indicating that I have some idea of the magnitude of comittment required for this website to remain a reality. And I can see that you have more pressing items on your agenda. I am happy that the guides are at the very least forthcoming. But would stick the following quill in your backside even still:
"You could write the 2 guides I asked for in less than half a day."
I'm sure though, the ones you do eventually write will be "Kwag- thorough, and as close to perfect as it gets. So I'm happy to wait.
Thanks, and have a great day.

...And dialhot? Chill dude. I have a right to respect whomever I wish to. I take nothing away from anyone else, least of all you whom I don't even know.
I prefer to hear it from Kwag.
sorry.
TIP:
Don't feel the need to respond to EVERY post on the forum. Get out a little. Git you some sunshine. (In fact, feel free N-E-V-E-R to respond to any of mine. I'll survive. Somehow.)

A timesaving tip I would suggest: Reply to those posts where the poster is actually talking to you.

I agree 100% with you. The problem is that I had more free time before to hang out in the forum, and now I'm not around as much as I used to be. Plus there are many thousands of new users in the forum, so the forum has grown very large. It's pretty hard to try and control a site, which receives over 2,000 unique visitors every day :!:
I just can't keep 100% order on the site.

Yes. You're right again :!:
So maybe it's time for me to tell some people in the forum to COOL OFF , and take a valium before answering. I'd like the forum to keep the good old KVCD spirit :!:

May I suggest another contest?

Or course this isn't really a contest since there isn't realy a "winner" but it would be a way to compare various techniques. By providing a sample clip. The "contest" would allow anyone to contribute and Kwag could simply comment on the submissions. Ideally this would take little of Kwag's time but would work towards and official Divx->KVCD guide.

Personally, I learned a great deal from the last filtering contest. Of course the point was not to find a winner but rather to see the "best of" solutions for a particular problem. In the end, I concluded that the existing noise filters just weren't there yet and no combination of existing filters produced a good enough result (but the results were still impressive).

Perhaps the new contest would not only produce a good guide but a new Divx specific filter as well.
