If I use the optimal script in tmpg with a target of say 352x240, should I still use the center custom size setting with the fitcd resizing value?

Hi magnus,

You should use "Full screen", because the script created with FitCD or Moviestacker will already be feeding the correct aspect to TMPEG.

What is the proceedure for either fitcd or moviestacker?
I dont understand how they work?
Once I have loaded my source into Movie stacker, tweaked whatever I'm supposed to, do I click "X" to turn it off? It doesnt have a run button that I can see. How do I know its done anything to the source file. Or do I leave it running, open TMPGenc, and then it does something?
Sorry, I'm puzzled by this and I don't think its well explained in the guides, or at least I'm not understanding its use well.

hello EightBall,

FitCD and MovieStacker are only calculators to assist in producing your Avisynth script (.avs file). It's likely that your source will need to be resized to a resolution of one of the KVCD templates. If the source is dvd (ntsc) then the resolution is 720x480 and to encode that to kvcdx3 (528x480) you need a line like this is in the script:

BicubicResize(352, 350, 1/3, 1/3, 0, 1, 720, 47

FitCD and MovieStacker helps to fill in the right numbers. Also you can add various filters with these applications and they fill in the parameters for you- for example:

STMedianFilter(8, 32, 0, 0, 8, 32)

You could type in the numbers in parenthesis manually but MovieStacker will make it much easier because there are sliders to each parameter's description.

If you're not familiar with AviSynth then this probably won't make any sense but I hope this helps

Hi Ren,
Yes. It helps a GREAT DEAL. thanks.
I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I know the basic questions must be a tad boring for the more experienced users, but to a beginner,(even though I've been around a while) it is the informative replies from nice, knowledgable persons (such as yourself) that seperate OUR forum, head and shoulders from all the rest.

THIS is the spirit of KVCD.net, THIS is what makes it a fun hobby, and a great place to be.
Again, Thanks!

Eightball
