Hi all.
I know this is going to be something basic and stupid but I can't put my finger on it. Need help.

This is the second DVD rip (avi) in 2 days where the following has happened.
I ripped one of my DVD's to Avi using DVD 2 avi.
then blah blah, TpmGenc, blah blah, Virtualdub,
end result:
456 mb video file (using 120 min KVCD temp)
85 mb audio file.

I use TMPGenc to simple multiplex, and it gives me my movie file, but its 1.04gb. I can't figure it out. 456 + 85= 1,040,000? dont think so. Also I'd need 2 blanks. What am i missing here?

You rip yor DVD as an AVI? When you rip your DVD it should be .VOB . After that you create a .d2v file out of your Vobs with DVD2AVI.

As for the multiplexing... In TMPGEnc make sure you select "Video CD Non-Standard" as Type, and add your .m1v and your .mp2 file in the blanks. This should be it. Maybe you selected Video CD as Type which will end up as a VERY BIG file.

I told you it would be something basic and stupid. ....... ......

Sigh, why do you guys waste your time with me?

Thanks a lot for the response. I'll go try what I just learned. Completely forget it in about a month, and then ask you again. K?

Actually, I've learned how to get around in this board better, so, until I forget that, I'll just refer to my own threads.

Thanks again Jelly.

So if you multiplex it as a regular VCD will the bitrate change back to 1150kbps or what causes the file size to become larger?

@muhali: No the bitrate will not change, but the multiplexer expects the bitrate to be 1150kb/sec although it is not. The multiplexer will calculate the lenght of the movie based on the wrong fact that the bitrate is 1150kb/sec. This will lead to such a big file.
