CQ always 89.77.

My problem is that every time i use CQMatic with my xvid movie, my CQ value is always 89.77. Even if i change the average bitrate to 1.

I'm using 1.2.02 and my source range in my text project is 0,-1. Resolution is 352x480, and movie length is 101 minutes, and no matter what i change the CQ doesn't change.
Using TMPGENC 2.58

What am i doing wrong?

Thanks.

kwag 10-04-2003 11:28 AM

Probably your source
Try a DVD backup

That can also be an error in the script leading to encode always the same 10 second long error message that avisynth produce in such case.

Can you check that in opening your script directly in a media player ?

muhali3 10-04-2003 03:29 PM

I already checked for errors in my script. Is the MA Optimal Script and i see nothing wrong.

I think it's because my source is xvid.

does MPEG-4 Video work well with CQMatic?

or should i try a D2V file?

No it doesn't, and it's not a CQMatic problem. It's a "seek" problem with MPEG-4 CODECs.

I whould have said "It's a seek problem with MA script combined to MPEG-4 codecs" as I use CQMAtic with all my Divx conversion without any problem, but I use the script referenced there :

Hi guys... It's been a while since I posted anything... But I've been watching.

I have tried on several occasions to use CQMatic... But unfortunalty I've never been able to get anywhere... I too always end up with 89.77... Look at my log.

My source is from a DVD rip... I use the latest (and greatest) MA Script... TMPEnc 2.521.58.169

Doesn't matter what the movie is (lenght, bit rate, etc)... The result is always the same.... Any idea???

Did you open the m1v file produced by CQmatic to see what is in it ? I guess it's an error message or a black screen.

I did.... It's fine... It's a two minute sample file (25MB)... And it plays flawlessly.... :?

Look at all your File size difference numbers :!:
They are all negative :!:
Please change your path to a shorter one, with shorter file names.

And that's why they call you "Master".... Yes the shorter path has fixed the problem!!!

Thanks!

Dialhot 10-23-2003 05:15 PM

Everyone have problem with CQMatic and "my" script for avi, except me.
(CQMatis is runnign while I doing this post !)

I really don't understand what you are doing all, but there is something that we have to find !

Please open Tmpegenc and load the project that CQMatic generates (it is called "CQMatic.tpr" and you can find it where the exe is.

Launch the encoding and tell me :

1/ is TMPGEnc encoding 2880 frames (or 3000 if you are in PAL) ?
2/ is the encoding going to its end or crashed with a "illegal floating point operation" ?

Note: you should upgrade your TMPGEnc version !

Zolie 10-25-2003 10:15 AM

actually when i did what u suggested Dialhot, i got this error before the encoding even started: "=" is necessary. per 229 line.
anyidea?

Dialhot 10-25-2003 10:23 AM

It seems that you do not follow carefully all the recommendation to use CQMatic. Give a look at this thread I opened of this problem and look at the post of racer99.

Dialhot, my first success with CQMatic was with your script - I used it for prediction and then encoded with my script for less filesize. I had problems in the past but they were because I had "set range" values not 0 and -1.
