New free AC3 encoder!

Baldrick from DVDRHelp.com created a new tool to use FFDMpeg to encode from any source (even AVI) to AC3. It's very fast and according to Baldrick the old Pionneer bug (which also appeared in BeSweet/AC3machine since they all share the same core) has been fixed!

Hi vmesquita:
I just visited the site, and it appears that this wiull not work properly w/ W98SE. I wonder if someone here has interest in trying it ot not. I have tried ffmpeg for windows, the previous version, but I could not work the 2nd pass. I wonder if this version has fixed the problem....

Thanks for the info

Totonho03,

In fact this is a Front-End for ffmpeg audio encoding. I actually haven't tried myself because of the lack of time, but I thought someone might find it interesting. But I talked to DSPGuru, BeSweet author, and he told me that the Pioneer bug has been fixed about 14 months ago, but he doesn't recommend AC3 encoding using FFMPEG/BeSweet (same routines) because they are very amateur right now. He is even considering removing this FFMpeg routines that adds AC3 support to BeSweet in futures releases.

@vmesquita,

I tried ffdmpeg to convert wav to ac3 and it worked ok, but the sound
level is still very soft just as with AC3Machine. I guess the same program
is being used in AC3Machine. Well, I keep waiting until this problem is
solved :)

Just wondering, but where did you hear that they fixed the pioneer bug for besweet? I just started making KDVDs and while they play fine on my Sony player, I noticed the pioneer bug when I played them on another Pioneer unit. Only those movies where I didn't use besweet to modify the ac3 audio played fine. I've been using the latest beta versions of besweet and besweet gui, so it appears that the bug hasn't been fixed yet...?

J-Wo,

In the thread I posted, somebody said it was fixed. I contacted DSPGuru and he informed me it was fixed abou 14 months ago. Since I don't have a pioneer player to test, I can't tell. Well, based on your experience, looks like it's still there. Maybe you could contact him. Also DSPGuru does not recommend using AC3 routines from BeSweet/FFMpeg for nothing other than testing, because they're very amature.

ps,
i seriously conisder removing any support for ac3enc.dll in future BeSweet versions as it seems that users ignores my warning about the amature state of this codec and use it to encode important stuff.~
