Calcumatic 1.0.6 with MPEG2
I have a DVD rip that I'm encoding with KVCDx3-Mpeg2 reset to 704x480. I cannot play MPEG1 on my players, but 704x480 Mpeg2 seems pretty compatible with DVD players.
Video: 138 min 17 sec 2 CD's 80 Min. Audio Bitrate 192 (actually using 128, but using for overall size safety) Results: 1387.8 Average Bitrate 791 0.57 * Average Min Bitrate in TMPGEnc set to 791 CalcMatic predicts CQ 75 Results: 813,732 813,686 57,084 This is with muxing 128 mp2 instead of 192 mp2 used in prediction. I realize that most users do Mpeg1, but is there anything I can do to better use CalcMatic with Mpeg2? Using the results, I have reduced the average bitrate by 3.4% to 1340 to try again. |

should read CQMatic predicts CQ 75 Anyway, finally am using 775 as custom size for MPEG2 800MB cds. Overhead for MPEG2 does not work well with CalcuMatic calculations using defaults for 800MB. |
I always use min=64, max =2300, custom size 807 MB (only on CD, not two like you) and CQMatic always bive mive file from 803 to 813 MB.
Perhaps the problem comes when you have too much space avalaible (2 CD insteed of one). |

Hi nicksteel,
With such a high average bitrate (~1,300Kbps), you don't need the (0.57 * MIN). Set your MIN to 300Kbps. -kwag |
