How to cut/edit a section when making KVCD?
I usually use DVD2AVI, Moviestacker, TMPGEnc, BBmpeg, VCDEasy to make KVCD backups of my DVD's. I would like to know a good way to cut out small sections now and then. At what point in the process? Using what program?

If you want to cut out a part at the beguining or at the end, you can select a "start" and "end" point in DVD2AVI before making the .d2v
If you need to cut more than one part, or part that is in the middle of the movie, you can use the "range selection" feature of TMPGENC (settings -> advanced). But if you need to do a file size prediction, you should first find the starting frame and end frame fo the point you want to cut with vdubmod or tmpgenc preview and add this line at the end of your avs script : (let say you want to cut part from frame 1000 to frame 2000) Code:
Trim(1,999).Trim(2001,0) |
Thanks for the suggestions. The sections I cut are usually in the middle. But I still don't quite understand how I could do what you say because I usually use TMPGEnc just for encoding the video portion. Could I still use it for cutting out the section? And adding the line about 'trim' in my avs script, wouldn't I run into the same problem as using TMPGEnc because I encode my audio in Headac3e??

For sure if you want to cut out part you have to encode audio and video both together !
Use the "Cut Editing" feature of TMPGENC (see in Setting / advanced / source range. The button on the bottom left). |
