I can cut the first half of training day and it comes out fine, but when I try to cut the second half I only get audio until the last fifteen minutes or so. then no audio. this problem is not on the original 1.3gb movie file. the audio is synched, but it drops off. I have tried it with many different versions of tmpgenc, but they all do the same thing. the first file is around 700 mb and the second always comes up at 612 and the cutting point is pretty much exactly halfway. I am at a loss. If anyone knows what I am doing wrong, please let me know. I originally wanted to get it on one cd, but when I used the 1 cd template and encoded the d2v in tmpgenc along with the encoded audio from an dvd2svcd(since I can't find any how to's for dvd2svcd that involve the kvcdx2, which is the only one my pioneer 343 will accept) my file size was like 930mb. I am not enough of an expert to know how to trim the file down. anyway, enough rambling. TIA for any help

Hi pitch007:

Don't use TMPEG to cut&join your mpeg files. Use BBmpeg. You can demux your files with TMPEG, but re-mux them with BBmpeg. Look at the "General Settings" tab of BBmpeg, after you hit "start encoding/settings", and you'll see the option at the bottom that says "Multiplexing start/stop/size options". There you can select the exact position you want to start and end your new muxed mpeg file. Remember to mux as VCD and check VBR and set "Forced mux rate" to 0.

well, I can't figure out how bbmpeg works. when I open the version that came with dvd2svcd, in the input and output files tab, I can't change any of the files. when I press a button like open ps, bbmpeg just closes. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

You're not doing anything wrong pitch007. It's a BBmpeg bug!.
Here's what you do. Press the "Add" button in BBmpeg. When the "Open media" window pops up, hit cancel. Now you can press "start encoding" button and go to the settings.

i appreciate your help. I am trying it now. What I am wondering now is what I did wong when I tried to encode it to fit on one cd. the file size was way too big. Is there any way to decrease the size of a 121 min to fit on one cd, if the movie is one such as training day? that is my ultimate goal.

@pitch007:

You win some, loose some
Not every movie will fit in one CD, unless you want to sacrifice quality by lowering the CQ .

Wow, That explains a lot of things. I've been having a Hay-day with TMGPenc sence yesterday b/c It would lock up when I try to cut the second half of my first 1h30min of Lord of the Rings. Wow, now I know I can cut it with BBmpeg! AH!!! A large sigh of relief

Yeah! now all I have to do I incode the second half and it'll be done. I think I might put up some links to a few files from it b/c the movie looks even better than your matrix kwag!

Thanx,
