How to achive good quality with a small file size?

I want to make video clips(320x240), 3 min. But they are 20Mb plus.
Suggestions of codecs, softwares......

Quality and size are always tied together, small means low quality.

for AVI, try the Huffy codec, it is lossless.

for small size, use the KVCD template with TMPGEnc.

you could try DivX, but I personally have never seen a DivX conversion that looks as good as a KVCD/TMPGEnc conversion.
