KVCD: can't Even Fit 118 Minutes on a Disc?

1. I ripped a karaoke dvd, then use dvd2avi.

2. Using Tmpgenc 2.53, load .d2v and .wav file. I check in Tmpgenc, this video is only 118 minutes long.

3. Loaded Kwag template. Leaving all default setting in template.

4. After 8+ hours, I got a 2.2 Gb file!!

Why is the output file so large? Even when I encode using Tmpgenc NTSC Vcd template I only get a 1.2 Gb file. So why with Kwag template I get a larger file?

Am I suppose to mess with the Max bitrate setting? I notice that when I set it to 795 kbit/sec the resulting file size would be 799mb, but the video is not good quality.

What am I doing wrong?

Check that when you have loaded the video file (D2V.) that it has not changed the encoding size to the original view size, alter it back to either 352x240 / 352x480 (NTSC) or 352x288 / 352x576 (PAL)

You will end up with a monster file if your final encode has been done at 704x576

I check under video tab in tmpgenc, when I added the .d2v file the video is at 352X480. I also went back to Dvd2Avi using "forced film" option.

I still can't get the final output .mpg file using kvcd template to be anything less than 2.2 Gb. The only time I can get the final size down is by setting the maximum bitrate to 800kb/sec or less. As I mention, video really suffer. What I else can I do? Are there any other settings I needed to use in Dvd2avi?

Hi Minty:

Verify that the LAST step you do is load the template.

I assume your DVD is FILM.

Also when you ran DVD2AVI, did you press the "F5" key to preview and see if your DVD was FILM >95% of was it NTSC?
