Just wondering how you guys are all doing your file prediction for KDVDs and CCE. I'm trying to following vmesquita's guide but some steps seem a little "vague"... I really got used to using CQmatic for my KVCD encodes, but I don't think this program has incorporated CCE support has it? Just wondering if I really have to do the old manual way for my KDVD predictions... thanks

Hi J-Wo,

I have no idea what you consider a little vague, but you can always ask and I'll try to answer... To simplify the process, I have made a calculator:

CQMatic has no CCE support yet.

okay well I guess I was a little confused by some of your steps, but only because your guide is so comprehensive that it becomes a bit confusing as to which steps to follow.

I did have a question about overhead though. You mention that for 6 hours of video, we subtract 200 Mb overhead. So 4482 Mb becomes 4282 Mb left. How accurate is this? What if I want to fit only 5 hours of video, but still use up the whole disc. Do I still subtract 200 Mb?

Well, to tell the truth, I never found out what defines exactly how much space overhead will take. My biggest overhead was 177 Mb, for 6 hours of video. But once I got 140 Mb. So I guess 150~160 Mb should be fine for 5 hours of video.
Since you're predicting for let's say 3800 Mb , a 3% variation in prediction is a lot of space: 114 Mb. So it's hard to fill a DVD to the edge, anyway. Even increasing audio bitrate, there's always some room, in my case, something between 20~50 Mb.
