KVCD: MPEG-1 problem! Bigger than AVI files!
 

Hi all.

This is my first time dabbling with KVCD in any way... and I'm impressed by how well it works, thanks to all who developed anything to help n00bs along.

First Try went well, wanted to fit a 6 episode series onto one disc, ie 3 hours.

Started off with the series ripped from a DVD, which I did some time last year, so went from .AVI files to my KVCD.

So I sucessfully got 3 hours onto one disc, plays perfectly on my DVD player and I am happy with the result.

Followed "Simple Guide on converting AVI to KVCD - By gsolis" except didnt use BeSweet for audio, used HeadAC3he (its what I know and what I like) and I didnt understand all that copy to clip board enter "B" value in command prompt which his guide included.

Next a 2 hour movie, hopefully will go well to, only problem...

When making my series disc, 6 half hour episodes... When Using TMPGEnc I just let it encode to 5% then multiplied the file size at that time by 20, giving me a total, multiply that by 6 and make sure it all fits on the disc. Scientific huh?

But when doing a one 2 hour file movie I could wait for 5% to roll by but I'm thinking that will take awhile, and I'd rather be in bed when thats happening, is there some kind of calculator which given the size of the original .AVI and the size of the .mp2 audio file, churns out a complete file size...?

Thanks any input on my sucess or my new problem would be appreciated.

I would have say : lucky !

There is no linearity ion the function filesize=f(time). And 5% of the encoding can take 5 % of the final filesize or 2% or 10 %. So you were lucky.

If it was "so simple", that will be so wonderful :-)
