I tried yesterday to switch to Avisynth 2.52 in order to try out the new MA script and had a few problems. In another thread I posted about a codec error, "couldn't find appropriate video codec for yv12", tried a couple of things suggested to no avail. I then tried to go back to Avisynth 2.08 and now TmpgEnc is acting weird. It usually took about 12 minutes to do sample with 2.0x script and now it takes like 4 minutes. After the trial encode is done and I try to view in Windows MP, the whole sample plays in like 3 seconds but the time listed in the upper right hand corner is 50 seconds (which is even wrong, it should be like a minute and a half). I mean it really flies through the sample like it is on super fast forward. I tried with tmpgenc plus versions 2.53, 2.59 and 2.510. I never had this problem, I even tried deleting version 2.510 and reinstalling it and the same problem occures. Can anyone please pass on some advice. Not doin avi's, just dvd rips!

Use Gspot to analyse the little video you had encoded and tell us what codecs it reports for both auio and video rendering.

It seems that trying to find a good YV12 codec, you screw up them on your PC.

Note: it's quite normal to have it in 4 and not 12 bacause before you didn't have any codec so TMPGEnc used Directshowfilters. And that is VERY long.

Thanks for the reply Dialhot! Sorry, I should have explained a little better in the opening post, I am working on two different computers. The one I tried and had the codec problem on was ME and I put avisynth 2.08 back on with no problems. I have another computer with XP Pro that I actually do all my rips on but I never messed with the codecs, I simply uninstalled Avisynth 2.07, installed 2.52, had script errors, so put 2.08 in and now I have the problem, even tried going back to 2.07. I restarted everytime I uninstalled and reinstalled and have no clue what happened. All I did was try 2.52 and went back to 2.0x version. When I put 2.52 on I put the dll's in separate folder and wrote correct path. That computer is not hooked to the net so I couldn't post script errors so I just uninstalled and tried to go back to what I originally had.

Sorry Dialhot it was a long day yesterday and I didn't specify I was working on two different computers. Just to clear it up, the codec issue was on my toy machine with ME and the super fast playback is on my XP that I simply tried to switch avisynth versions.

Well I hoped someone would have been able to save me from having to uninstall all my rip stuff (and reinstalling) and possibly having to reinstall windows. Anyone got any ideas??

Installing Avisynth is only a dll that is put in windows system directory. And this dll is replaced when you change the version of avisynth. No possibility there to screw up anything.

You probably did something else on your PC that you do not even tie to the video encoding. In these conditions you have nothing to do but undo everything you did in the last days or reinstalling everything from scratch.
