Filtering DivX Files With VirtualDub??

Hi all!

is there a way to filter divX avi's with virtualDub (for example sharpen the movie) ? I found the filter, but the uncompressed output file would become just too damn large...

any ideas?

Well. You could always save the filtered movie using compression.

But the better way is to frameserve the movie to TMPGEnc.

There is a detailed explanation to be found here:

It's not as tough as it looks, and after you have done it once it's actually pretty simple.
Hope that helped.

Better yet, use AVISynth. Then there is no need to go through vdub for filters and you don't have to create a huge intermediate file. All the filters that exist for vdub are available in avisynth that I'm aware of. Another alternative is to use the 'ffdshow' decoder. You can process the file on the fly while encoding in TMPGEnc.
