I'm using DVD2KVCD to run DVD2SVCD to create VCDs of AVIs.

When using GripCrop with source_anamorphic=true (see 'Avisynth command' under the Frameserver tab) I get huge black borders top and bottom of my output. Setting it to false gives the correct output.

My question is, can I change the setup so that the default is source_anamorphic = false. I'd also like to change some other of the defualt settings, but this one is most important to getting reasonable output. I'm getting fed up of changing it for every file!

Thanks!

I'm not a guru.........but had the same problem as you have. DialHot can correct me if I'm wrong.

When using the optimal scripts for DVD2SVCD you have to set the aspect ratio to 4:3 (no borders added) because else, DVD2SVCD adds these borders two times (one time from the script instructions and another time by D2S engine itselve.....

See the optimal scripts I provide here :

http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7221

The divx one use "source_ana=false" as default. You will see how to adapt your own ones (or you can use them directly).

Ah - it all becomes clear! Thanks! I'll give your script a go later.

Out of interest - what do the source_anamorphic and dest_anamorphic settings do to GripCrop? I had a look for some documentation but with no luck...

Thanks again Paulus and Dialhot...

Simple: if your source is anamorphic you have to set "source_anamorphic=true", else pout "source_anamorphic=false".

If you plan to watch the KVCD on a 4:3 tv set, put "dest_anamorphic=false". If your tv set is widescreen use "dest_anamorphic=true"

The default are true for source and false for dest (as almost all DVD are anamorphic and most poeple watch the KCVD on a 4:3 TV).

No if you want an explnation of anamorphic term, I just wrote a very long post about it in the french forum and I'm too lazy to translate it

Is it not so that "dest anamorphic is true" is not supported by a lot of DVD stand-alone players ?

I never read that. Make a first try on your own to be sure before encoding other KVCD.
