I am trying to find the best template/custom settings to create cd's from my Tivo files. TiVo video is recorded at 2/3 D1 (480x480) resolution at 29.97 frames per second with constant-bitrate MPEG-2 at 5.8 Mbps.

Most shows I want to copy off are 30min shows. I would like to fit 2 shows(-commercials) per CD(80min). I would also like a template for best quality for those extra special shows, here I would not mind if one show took a whole CD.

I will be playing these back on my TV thru a APEX 1100W DVD player. I do not have a dvd burner.

Thanks for any input/help. Moat

The best template for that would be one of the 352x480. Check the DVD compatibility section related to your Apex model. Some Apex have to be "tricked" with some tweak while encoding with the templates, because they behave pretty crazy when fed MPEG-1 VBR, as in the KVCD templates. Try the new 352x480 Plus template. It will give you around 90 minutes on a CD. This is at a frame rate of 23.976. Not at 29.97. If your aired shows are telecined, you can do inverse telecine and encode at 23.976. If not, then you'll get less time per CD.

Actually Moat,

If I were you, I would use Kwags Half D1 KDVD template. This will keep it Mpeg2 but should bring each half our episode, -Commercials, to less than 350 Meg each .....
