Im a little confused about something!

I tried to convert the sound of an avi movie to .mp2 which worked ok, however when i play the .mp2 file there is no sound.

I tried to do the same thing with another movie and i could play the .,mp2 file no problem.

I remember when i tried to play the avi movie as a whole i needed the AC3 DVM audio codec to hear it.

Now ofcourse when i use tmpgenc to create the .mp2 it doesnt play.

Do i have to extract the audio to some other extention? if i do what do i use to do it and then how do i combine the .m1v and the audio file together in tmpgenc.

I used virtual dub to make a wav file to see if i could merge the .m1v file and the .wav together in tempgenc but i get an "invalid mpeg stream" error when doing so.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Virtual dub mod allows you to open the avi file and save the ac3 file where regualer virtual dub will n ot allow you to save the ac3 file.

Check this thread for the download

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44244

THis thread helped me with ac3 first

http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic....bbde4c29fa03f7

These are a start but maybe someone with more knowledge will come along

Why do you need that ? Tmpgenc should be used only for video. Let audio tools doing audio.

If a plugin is added in TMPGENC it will be as bad as the internal mp2 engine ... but on 6 channels insteed of two.

If you meants "a plugin to read ac3 in tmpgenc", I guess you can already do that using the directshow handler, directly of via an avisynth script (2.5.3 handles mutichannel audio).

Yea your right Dialhot. It just gets confusing and frustrating on which steps to do first. I sort of got spoiled using acp and I'm really getting burned out on all the encoding. No offense to all the great techs and excellent guys helping out like yourself. I just want one program to do all this because I can't spend four or five hours messing on one or two movies when I have other things I've got to do... !

I've tested it to open the AC3 File via Avisynth with

DirectShowSource(***.ac3)
and

AC3Source(***.ac3)
, but nothing works correkt for me. The voices of the persons are filtered by AC3Source and I can't open the AC3 File with the DirectShowFilter.
What I do wrong???

You can use DVD2SVCD for that : it handles AC3 and DTS.
