I'm some threads I see people talking about setting the MIN bitrate at 0,57 * the average bitrate

What is the purpose of this, and when should you use it (or not)??

Is 0,57 a fixed number, or should that be calculated in some way?

Tnx for any help!

Using MIN=0.57*AVG and MAX=2000 is a way to help CQMatic to be very accurate in computing optimal CQ for your encoding.

It is not mandatory at all (I always use Min64-Max2300) but it helps a lot. And theses values were found after many tests.

@All,

If you are using X3 mode for prediction in CQMatic, you don't need to set MIN as (0.57 * average).
The longer prediction takes more sampling, and the results are more accurate, no matter what you set MIN bitrate to.
