KDVD: KDVD MPEG Size Too Big?

well im using the low res kdvd template to fit 9 hours of a 25 episodes cartoon show to dvd but when i do a test run to encode the movie the size is clearly way over the limit of a dvdr so i was wondering if i should change any settings to lower the file size, i dont want to encode for 12+ hours just to get a file to big to fit on to dvd, by the way i know that the kdvd template doesnt encode audio so i was wondering if their will be room to fit the audio on the dvdr and what program should i use encode the audio?

First off anime/cartoons require a higher bitrate. This is why it is said that a full template gets 6 hrs of video or 4 hours of anime/cartoons. My guess is that you should only be able to get 7 mayber 8 hours on a D1/2 DVD. Anyway here is what I would do.

1.) Use rejig to transcode the video(s) to a smaller file size since you don't want to reencode it (it won't take as long as recoding it).

2.) Use besweet to reencode the audio tracks. For that long of a cartoon/anime I would use 64kbps 2 channel AC3.

Use a utility to author it.

Mux with BBMpeg or Mplex. ( Or even TMPEG's internal muxer ).

In case of KDVD?? I think he should let do the DVD authoring appl. the muxing process, but until now I never tryed to input a muxed mpeg into TmpgDVDAuthor as source?

Also keep in mind that if you do a DVD you have to encode your audio in 48khz! In that case I wouldn't go below 128kbit/Stereo Ac3/mp2 as 48khz needs more bits in comparison to 44.1khz

arsonist, I would just like to note the some things:

Most Standard DVD's:
Stereo - 192 kbps (96 kbps) [128 kbps]
High Quality Sound - 224 kbps (112 kbps) [192 kbps]
5.1 ch Surround sound - 384 kbps (196 kbps) [256 kbps]

You can cut these down to half loosing a little quality but any lower than half you will get blips in the audio. The parenthesees show the minimum bit rate that should be used.

If you have the space I would recomend the following in the brackets. It is just an average of the two changed to match somewhat of a standard (it's hard to explain).
