Bitrates: New To KVCD and CQmatic...
 

I am trying to create my first KVCD and tried to use CQmatic but the project wasn't found and I think it is because of the following:

*** TMPGEnc Project file must be saved as "text" project *** CQMatic will not read TMPGEnc's propietary project files.
You must make sure that you save the project without source range selection, and "Cut editing" cleared (or reset), and start frame set to 0 and end frame set to -1. Normally, that is the default. But if you have done source editing, make sure you clear the list, and "Uncheck" source range. If you don't, CQMatic will run, but TMPEG will abort because of errors.

How do you save as "text" project***? My file was created with vdub
as an .avi. It sure would be easier to create KVCDs with this tool. Is their
something I am missing? Thank you :D

For sure ! We are talking here about the TMPGENC Projtect (file extension tpr).
Did you open tmpgenc, load your template then the avisynth script (or directly the avi) as source ? Yes ? So now go to file menu of tmpgenc, choose "save project" and select "texp tmpgenc project" as file format before to confirm.

I wonder if you really understand what making KVCD involve :-)

Yes I am new to KVCD as I said above but I still don't understand why CQmatic won't find a project. I have never saved any projects in TEMPenc
so their are no .tpr files on my computer. I understand that the CQ number is very important and would like to use CQmatic.

For sure if you never save any project file you will never find any tpr on your disc.

First : do you now how to use TMPGENC ? Second, how to use it _for kvcd_ ? Thirdly you will see how to use CQMATIC. But start from the begining, it's easier ;-)

I believe I figured it out, YOU must create a .tpr for CQmatic to work. Once I created a "text TMPGenc project" I then used Calcumatic to get average bitrate and movie length and was able to get a calculation from CQmatic of 89.77. If I am on the right path please let me know. Thanks for your help :D

Did you actually see TMPEnc encoding the sample :?:

CQMatic also gives a final CQ of 89.77 if something is not quite right with the TMPGEnc project :(

If TMPGEnc just flashes up and does not show the sample being encoded then I'm afraid, "Houston, we have a problem" :wink:

I believe your right because no matter what I did the rate was 89.77 which is too high. I have since went to the tool "ACP" and this is a great tool.
