voices seem distorted? audio/sound problems?
 

one small question for you...when i played my kvcd on my home theater system, everything seems fine...sound in front is very good (music, noise & characters voice)...rear speakers are playing ok also for music & noise but for voices they seem to be distorsionned (well they are not clear eventhough they are supposed to be more echo depending of the settings of the amplifier)...is there a special setting to avoid that?

Ifr I understand you well, therer'e two choices:

a) In case of destorted rear channel sound:
Dont set "Joint Stereo" when encoding mp2s for KVCDs which will be played back on surround decoding systems. Some Sets do have problems with this ... for shure, the joint stereo mode does modify the soundstructure and the architecture of the internal sound matrix for surround decoding.

b) In case of other "echo" or amplify errors:
Do determine the right mixdown settings in HeadAC3he or Besweet.

i am using all the settings mentionned in the guides with headac3...

if my wav file is 48 mhz, i check resample to 44.1 mhz...downmix type i am leaving surrond, channel mode dual channel &bitrate 128...i do not change anything else...

same thing for vdub...i am using all the settings mentionned in the guides...

Make sure you encode your audio as "Dual Channel".
Not "Stereo" or "Joint Stereo"

Verify this in HeadAC3he.
On the :arrow: "Channel Configuration" window, select Surround 2 and on the :arrow: "MP2enc" window, select Channel Mode: Dual Channel

I did try your recommendation to switch to Dual Channel, but in case of my home cinema surround set I get a very strange output. It seems that the left and right channels are (nomen est omen) splittet. So the sound appears like , an outerphase effekt, that doesn't mean that ITS outerphase but totally bad centerspeaker allocation .... everything said here base upon my experiences by doing this ON MY surround set, so I think it depends on the surround decoder.

Yep. I think so too.
But I did suggest that, because it seems it's the most compatible mode for the majority of Dolby Prologic II receivers.
UNLESS big's receiver is not Prologic II :!:

Hi big,

Try "Surround" and "Dual Channel", instead of "Surround 2" and "Stereo".
Also, your bitrate should be at least 112Kbps :!:
Lower than that, you'll get artifacts.

tried surround & dual channel with 160kpps...effects like music & noise are still ok, voices are ok with central speaker but i put my ears near the rear speakers voices still look distortionned...i know that rear speakers are supposed to have lees voices so i am wondering if i am not too "picky"...

Surround are not supposed to have voice at all except if people are talking from behind the camera.

Do you have such thing on regulmar DVD ? If yes that means that your decoder has a very poor channel separation.
