Back to the topic: we're still not so far in ffmpeg mod for windows?
Is there a way to implment notch matrix, and to use avs scripts (or other similar scripts)? If it so great advantage above TMPG why it's dumped?

I don't understand all these itching around ffmpeg.
Sure, it is the fastest encoder so far, but now it is fully incorporated into mencoder as libavcodec and I don't use ffmpeg for video or audio any longer.
I use toolame for audio encoding and mencoder libavcodec (it is a full port of ffmpeg).
If you use mencoder, you don't have to encode video and audio separately, mencoder is doing mux now.
I split the resulting .mpg file only for two reasons:
a) to be able to image it into multiple CDs; and you can do that without even a multiplxer, just use http://mpgtx.sourceforge.net/
b) I use _variable_ audio bitrate, and right now it can be done only with toolame.
With my celeron 933mHz mpeg1 produced in 1x real time scale, so what the point go faster?
Take a look or better try it:
http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7771&start=35

P.S. mplayer/mencoder likely already ported to windows,
but I personally even don't play 1st person shooters in windoze, because they are twice slower there.

The question of Hydeus are still the same. And I join myself to him to ask you :

- can we put the Notch matrix in mencoder ?
- can we use scripts* ?

Without these two things what you are doing is fast, but not really a KVCD.

edit : *I do not mean unix shell scripts there but of course avs scripts, to be used as source in mencoder (does it accept pipes ?)

And where is possible to download mencoder for windows?
And how use this script of yours? (maybe small how-to)

Of course we like to use our avs scripts, so ...

see section windows.
Yes, mencoder works with pipes (fifos) and urls, I can encode straight from http link or device.
any intra and non-intra matrix can be put as a command line parameter.

I did not mentioned that because fmpeg has parameters for that, so mencoder surely has

see section windows.

Last time I checked, there was a message clearly stating that the software wasn't available for Windows. :P
Thanks for the update

And I just checked the documentation :

7.2. Encoding to MPEG format

[...]this feature is not very useful right now, aside that it probably has many bugs[...]

BTW, we will see that quicly.

but documentation is not updated yet.
This was long outstanding situation, that's why I used ffmpeg for audio and mencoder for video. Last November they finally added audio encoding and audio filters, so I can do this and even resampling frequency into 48kHz (still they don't have my favorite audio vbr so I use toolame).
Also, I've tested deinterlacing on ugly .wmv streams and it's ok.

My respects to http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7962
He actually done most of original work, I just experimented with many options in mencoder.

very funny I mustsay
I thought that this is KVCD forum, and not ALL YOU WINDOWS USER SWITCH OVER TO LINUX forum
I've used linux for about half a year, but geting error mesago of any aplication 3 times a day (because it support wersion x.xxx1 and will never support version x.xxx2) is very flustrating.
I will use windows until this "linux zoo" will exist
So unless you don't have ansver for me .. dont bother

Ok this looks like a miracle... I had linux in my machine a while ago but right now my Windows XP is living alone.
What are you using in linux to achive that? Please share with us... If I can achive that I might get Linux a big fat space in my HD again...

"Mpeg-1 video with an average bit rate of ~500kbs that almost looks like the original DVD on my TV" means only one thing : that's a really small TV ! (or a really crappy DVD player)
