cqmatic starter help please
im new to using Cqmatic, can sum1 tell me what stage of the encoding process i use it and how i use it, im quite familar with the encoding part using tmpg, but never used this to work out the cq, and have been told that the reason why my files are to big is cos i havnt been using cqmatic
|
Do all what you do with TMPGENC as usual but do not launch the encoding process.
Be carreful to reset the source range as said in the message where you can DL CQmatic. Just save the project (in menu file) as "tmpgenc text project" (that's important) and close Tmpgenc. Then open CQMatic, load the project, open Calcumatic to compute the average bitrate to use and give this info to CQMatic. Then let it go and it will open tmpgenc byu itself and after some tests, your video will be encoded automatically. |
thaks mate il give it a try
|
i did what u said, but unsure on a cuple of things, on calcumatic is the average bit rate a 0. number eg. on my video it was 0.57, the other boxes were greyed out so i was unsure and that was the only box with a number in it, also do i enter this number as 57,
tmpg did not start up after i put this info in and clicked execute?? |

What you have to do is to load the source (your d2v or your avi), select the audio bitrate (default 128) choose the final target size (CD80, CD90...) and click on "calculate". That computes the avg bitrate that you need to give to CQMatic. |
my bad i didnt hit the calculate button, i got the average bit rate which was 1075.8 ( does that sound rite) then enterd this into cqmatic, hit execute waited sum more but it doesnt start encoding

Post the log of CQMatic.
(double click in the windows when the work is finished and it will copy the log in the clipboard. Then you can paste it into a message on the forum). |
here the log mate

It seems that you never told to CQMatic where tmpgenc.exe is ! It can't guess it :-)
Click on "Settings" in CQmatic window and give the path to tmpgenc.exe |
thanks again pal, il try now, does the bitrate of 1075 seem rite?? do i have to do anything else with the cq value?? it shows it as bein 89
|
1075 is correct for a 109 movie (btw Calcumatic just applies a simple math equation and can't gives wrong answer)
89 ? hum... I guess it is 89.77 and that means that you have a problem. Be carreful to follow exactly what is recommanded on the CQMatic page. And if it does not work, again post your log. |
thanks mate, do i need to do anything with the CQ value? how comes 87.9 is a problem???and does changing the aspect ratio of my out put video to full screen affect my file size
|
87.9 for a 109 min long movie ? in 528*576 ??? It seems very high but not impossible.
Again post your log ! Note: yuou should ALWAYS be in fullscreen if you use an avs script as input. |
Doesn´t the log say that the movie is 90 minutes long?
|
iv not been using scripts, only just found out about them, so not tried, il post my next log if i have any problems, is it just two numbers that get entered into CQmatic ( the movie length, and average bit rate)?????
if i use the cq of 87.9 and start encoding do u think itl fir on my cd?? |

the movie im doing now is 90 minutes, did i say it was 109?? if i did im sorry

What are the min and max you use ? |
what do u mean min and max??
|
ow do you set Tmpgenc ? Manually or you laod a template ? Which template ? And if you do that manually, what is the min and the max video bitrate you set in the video tab of tmpgenc ?
|
i load up the kvcd x 3 mpeg1 or 2 528 x572 template, iv never set the bit rate on this not even sure how to do it
