I'm curious about the "Block scanning order" and "Progressive flame flag"
For interlace videos, is it right to select
Block scanning order : Alternate
Uncheck Progressive flame flag
And non-interlace/progressive videos, is it right to select
Block scanning order : Zig-zag
Check Progressive flame flag

As for the Intra block DC precision, in the manual it recommends 10 for DVD video but in CCE KDVD template it's set as 8. Which one should I use?

DC Precision of 10 is recommended at higher avg Bitrate encodings, but as we enjoy in case of KDVD a lower avg bitrate, we leave that DC Prec. setting at 8!

The right combination in CCE:

In case of interlaced source & encoding:
- Alternate scan & unchecked progressive frame flag
+++ using a Matrix with alternate value ordering! Otherwise you won't enjoy the real advatage beside the right frame/fieldbase flag.
AND IF encoding interlaced you need MUCH MORE avg Bitrate! Sometimes up to 2-3times.

In case of Progressive source & encoding:
- ZigZag scan & checked progressive frame flag

BUT as I know you from the confusing interlaced! 23.976 Xvid Thread, you should be shure about the frame or field archtecture of that Xvid!

Which Matrix Preset in CCE should I use for alternate value ordering? Standard, MPEG standard, Smooth, Very low bitrate or Ultra low bitrate?

Search here in the forum for "interlaced notch" then you'll find my reordered version of Kwags notch, so it fits the alternate/interlaced matrix scanning specs.

Is this the same as "DC component precision" in TMPGEnc? If so, the KDVD TMPGEnc template uses 10 bits. Why?
