KVCD: File size too big for CD-R? (837mb)

my file size is still too big, im encoding 12 monkeys, i cut off the credits so its just on 2 hours, i used calcumatic, worked out the average bit rate to be 705, started cqmatic, let it run tmpg and got a file that was 837mb big, what am i doing wrong?

this is the templae i am using

kvcdx3 mpeg 2 576x528, when it was encoding on the bottom of the tmpg screen it had the cq number which was still 60, is this not supposed to change??

This path is FAR TOO LONG !
All paths and filenames involved in the process must be very shorts.
Put everything in C:\KVCD for instance.

Second : the time process for each setp is so short that I'm sure TMPGENC fails also. That means that you did not reset the cut editing nor the source range.

mistermickster 01-12-2004 07:21 AM

Basic steps:-

1. Open TMPGEnc.
2. Press Ctrl-N & OK or click File->New->OK.
3. Load your favourite template.
4. Load the unlock template and make any setting changes you require.
5. Load your script/source file.
6. Save as 'text' project file (make sure paths and filenames are short and contain no spaces).
7. Open CalcuMatic to get Average bitrate.
8. Open CQMatic.
9. Locate your TMPGEnc project.
10. Enter movie length in minutes, and average bitrate.
11. Select your prediction method (X1 or X3).
12. Hit Execute.

There you have it, process in a nutshell. If you make sure the items in bold are adhered to you shouldn't have a problem.

khusru 01-12-2004 10:16 AM

the time process is short on the log because its the one i did afterwards just to show the log, what do u mean by resetting the source range and cut editing????

thanks for all ur help il follow ur guide

Open tmpgenc, open you project (the one that cause you problem). Go to settings, advanced, Source range. Do not worry if there is a error window that pop-ups, just confirm.
Click on "Default", then "Cut editing" and there click on "Reset cut editing" if it is not greyed.
Then click oK, UNCHECK the "source range" box and click OK.
Save the project as text project. That's all.

YOU MUST DO THIS EACH TIME before saving the tpr file that you want to give to CQMatic.

What are the settings for?

These settings.

Cut editing can be use to cut of certain parts of the source (commercials for instance).
Source range setting is to set a start and end point to the encoding process when you want for instance remove the opening and end credits.

CQMatic needs to use these settings to take a 2 mintue sample within the film (in fact in takes 120 sample of one second each). That is why we must reset all previous settings before saving the project.

khusru 01-14-2004 11:06 AM

How can i still cut off say the end credits if these settings are reset???

thanks for all the help dialhot

mistermickster 01-14-2004 11:13 AM

You do it in DVD2AVI :)

Setting start and end points before saving the project.
