can i burn 180 min of (K)VCD on 900mb cd-r?
and if so should i use a different tamplet?

There is no problem to put 180 min on a CD90 if you use 352*240(28 as resolution.
Use the standard script and CQMatic of course to find the correct CQ value for your movie.
You should perhaps reduce the max bitrate to 2000 to keep a correct CQ but try first with 2300 and reduce only if necessary.

For 180 minutes on a CD at 352x240(28, don't use a MAX bitrate above 1,150Kbps
This way, you'll save more bits for the "average" picture, and overall quality will improve.

1150 is perhaps too low but that's true that I personnaly use something in the range 1300-1600.

Dialhot, did you already try to overburn CD-R80s or use 90min or 99min CD-R s on your Pioneer DVR106 ?? Does it work?

Yes I do, and no it doesn't.
In fact you can overburn by using DAO/96 mode (and not DAO only) but it fails at 93% that is 83 minutes.

I still have 7 CD90 on my desk that I can't use
